The World's Gone Mad!

I read this earlier this morning.....and i still don't understand what exactly she's done wrong.

She painted her face black....so what!!

Crazy.

Totally bonkers. It's a fancy dress party FFS.

Apparently, some people - very small minded people - think that she should've gone as a white person to the party.  I'd argue that these small minded people are the racists.

If that's the case, you can't go in any fancy dress as it will offend somebody somewhere.

Apparently it's only white English people that you're legally allowed to offend these days. 
Personally, I think that Whoopi Goldberg may be more flattered than insulted that somebody wants to dress up as her! Anyway, it was a film character that was impersonated, not the actress. And that character was from a comedy for Christ sake. I wish people would stop looking for offence where none was intended.
The ridiculous thing about this episode is the fact that more column inches in papers, and more moments of earnest debate on radio and tv will be devoted to it than on any of the random acts of violence that occur every day in this country. Ridiculous.
I wish she hadn't apologised, she should have said "take in the spirit it was intended, now bugger off"

And I hope nobody was offended by the word "shit", which I now realise I have said twice.

The thing is Whoopi was allowed to offend Christians and no one said a peep. Well, it wasn't ever plastered all over the media if anyone was offended or complained about it.

Things that are inoffensive; blancmange, space hoppers, matching hats and gloves, Millican & Nesbitt, offshore breezes, ribena, DRESSING UP AS WHOOPI bloody GOLDBERG.........

Whoopi Goldberg once went to a party dressed up as me, and yet I wasn't in the least offended.
I guess I'm more tolerant than most.

I understand we would never want to offend somebody, racially, sexually, whatever...

I find myself in countries all over the world and with cultures from so many diverse countries with my work....I had to write a one day training programme for my Instructors, just to ensure they didn't innocently offend a client......it cost me at least £2500 in lost revenue to have them in a classroom for a day....

I am worthy   
I'm a white, slightly more than middle aged Mancunian living in the West of Scotland for over 30 years and i have had to endure abuse against me personally and also against my country for most of that time. I will add that it is by a minority of morons and usually football related but the scots as a whole have a huge chip on their shoulder in regard to us even though the majority are not abusive about it.

Everyone is abused during there life to a lesser or greater degree, on grounds of race, religion, gender, sexuality etc.
I get abuse when I'm in France because of my Englishness, but I prefer to see it as banter.
Some people just look for offence, that's the difference.
The thing that reals gets my back up is when somebody sees offence on other people's behalf!
Live your life, see the good not the bad, and maintain a f*cking sense of humour.
