Belgium vs USA

US put up a great fight today against a very talented Belgium squad with the likes of Hazard, Vinnie, Mirallas, Mertens, Lukaku etc.  On paper the best the US had to offer was Dempsey and Howard.  However, they all pulled together as a team and were outstanding.  Tim Howard was incredible.  Don't know if it was a stroke of genius putting Klinsmann in charge - or whether it is simply the national spirit of wanting to win and believing in themselves - which we as a nation don't seem to possess. 

It's been a very interesting WC for me - some outstanding performances by individuals as well as team spirit showing through with some of the less talent filled countries.  We have all the talent but no burning desire.  Maybe it's over-inflated egos - I don't know.  Sad really.

They can be proud of the effort they put in and go home with heads held high to a heroes welcome rather than skulking in quietly under a cloud.

they were excellent! heard Paddy Barclay on TS just say "it comes to something that we may have to go to the USA and see what they do with their squads, and then try to replicate it"

England players, and especially the manager and board from the FA, should be thoroughly ashamed of their effort and preparation and resign immediately!

Those USA players tend not to play for top teams and earn a fraction of what our players earn.

They play for their clubs but it's their country that they die for. Our players have it the other way round.

Totally agree with everything said about the US team here. They gave every last ounce of everything they had, and then dug even deeper and gave some more. They were worthy opponents all the way, which is more than anyone ever expected of them. And more embarrassingly for us, they were better than us, despite having so-called inferior players.

Klinsmann has done something special there, to knit that team together.
