Caballero to sign for £6m

If it's £6M then a good price for a decent goalie that will put pressure on Hart.

I think we are nearing the vision of having two quality players for each spot. I'd say we are still slightly weak at LB and CB, but have good players in each other position.

Could spell the end of Hart imo....i think he'll seek a move at some point this season.

If he's good enough, he is number 1. If he slips a bit, he's a goner. Good pressure to have.

I heard Neville Southall talking about WC keepers yesterday on TS. Now I know Southall was hardly world class, but he was saying the only 2 world class keepers at the WC were Neuer and Loris.

When asked where he would put Joe Hart, he said amongst the likes of Courtois, Tim Howard etc.....he said Hart is nowhere near world class.

I must admit, even though he played better after he came back, and thinking of where he was 3 years ago, I don't think he's progressed much....he's sort of plateaued.

He's still a brilliant goalie when on top form. Maybe he hasn't gone as far as we all hoped and maybe expected, but he's still one of the best around.

Neuer is way better than anyone else.

Thing is, Joe is still only 27, which is where a midfielder or striker would be at their peak, but for a goalkeeper he's still very young. He probably should've improved more, but it's not been required of him up till now as he's not had any real competition. Pantilimon was never going to push him at City and in the England setup, he'd not had much competition either:
- Robinson and James were getting on a bit
- Green and Carson made some epic howlers for England
- Foster couldn't get a game at the Rags

Forster should give him a run for the England shirt (as should Foster, I never understood why the rags let him go), but Caballero at City should let us see just how committed he is to improvement.

I though keeper would have been an easy spot for HG rules, should have got Butland in as 2nd choice, an english guy to fill the quota and not break the bank.

Neuer isn't that great, his "sweeping" was asking for a red card if any of the strikers had been willing to put their foot in countless times. He got very very lucky in several games this world cup..

Loris is world class....my arse, he's fuckin rubbish.

Southall was brilliant blue, definitely the best keeper in England at the time.

I really hope Joe does stay and prove he is the best in the PL and for England....i also agree the competition from Caballero may just push him to that next level.

I know Southall was a top keeper, but at the time, he wasn't world class compared to some that were around...maybe the level of keepers around the world has dropped significantly since the hey day of Casillas, Valdez, Buffon, Khan etc etc....

I also agree about Loris...I think he's bang average.
