He could have moved anytime over the summer, why wait until the last minute?

Don't think anybody wanted him for what we were asking.

Same thought here. If Sunderland were able to bag him, then not many other clubs were that fussed, clearly.

Are we Sunderland's feeder club now??

I don't know if it's the fee that was putting people off....probably more his wages.

Staying with City an extra 2 months probably means he gets those higher City wages for those two months. Might be worth over £300k to him...

Oh, I dare say it does. But he can't just keep taking the pay cheque and not play, because when his contract expires, he'll be out and nobody'll want him.

Rumour is now, he'll sign for West Ham today. Can't see them paying more than £6m.

Reading that City wanted Richards out on loan (£1M). Maybe this would have been like the Barry loan to Everton. Richards wouldn't take a drop in pay to play 1st team footy at West Ham. Looks like he may be off to Italy now.

How so? Last season he played in 10 games and was subbed off in half of them - mostly for Zaba. He wasn't cover for anyone, he predictably broke down so often.

Granted, we won't have a FIFA superstar any more, but that's hardly won us any trophies...

I meant it being a loan move....out of contract next season...all we lose is his salary...hardly like Yaya's. Would have liked just to get rid at £4-6m.

Oh... I must've misread that bit, I thought we'd sold him.

In that case, no, it's very bad for us. We could've squeezed a few million out of him as a sale, but a loan is no good, he'll just walk away on a Bosman at the end of the season.

Bit sad as he is the longest serving City player. End of an era but lets face it he wasn't even gonna get a game in the Carling Cup so it's for the best. Hope he has a cracking season & who knows next year ?

Fiorentina paying £3.5M for the loan and £4.7M if he signs permanently. Let's hope he has a great season!
