It's all starting to get just a bit insane now. Why don't BT concentrate on putting in decent broadband before sinking this kind of money into sport? Or perhaps make our creaky infrastructure a bit cheaper?

Why not tie the new deal with making tickets a fixed price that is reasonable?

Or spend part of that disgusting amount on kids football? Invest in the future, or make rich tossers even richer?

why not put some money into some of the clubs struggling in the lower divisions after all a lot of talent is nurtured at these clubs before they go onto bigger & better things.

Wow, crazy figures indeed. If BT get half the games, then my Sky subscription's going to be cancelled.
These companies are taking a massive gamble imo and the PL will have to be so careful....will people subscribe to both, or will people cancel both as they're not getting value for money anymore?

Re: £4b new TV contract for PL
The key difference there though, is that the Football League isn't anywhere near as glamorous and some idiot decided to create On Digital in order to spend far too much money on 36 fixtures a week that, at best, might be of mild interest. Like the Sheffield derby, or whenever Leeds played anyone half decent. The remaining fixtures were either dull or cheaper to go and actually watch live. Who was realistically going to blow £20 a month to watch teams like Burton Albion or Dagenham & Redbridge? Especially not when they'd get a cracking seat at some of these grounds and watch it live, plus have a beer and a pie and still have change for the bus home?
The PL is a very marketable product with some global names. League 2 isn't. To pay so much money for that was ludicrous.
That said, splitting games between Sky and BT is sheer greed and I dare say that people are going to start turning off.

I for one won't be paying 2 x £45/pm subscriptions.

Because it doesn't show that many games.
If they win the rights to show 50% of the games, then i guarantee their subscription will shoot up.
I'm also willing to bet Sky don't reduce theirs if they lose "X" amount (% wise) to BT.....i guess time will tell.

I wouldn't be surprised to see BT drop their current deal of giving their sports channel free to BT broadband customers.

If BT got half the games I'm sure they will start charging properly otherwise they won't make any money.
