Re: Diego Simeone
If Pellers finishes in the top 2 (not too far behind Chelsea if we're 2nd) and has a decent run in the CL, then he won't be going anywhere....end of.
Is this papertalk just another way to try to unsettle the camp just before a game again?

Re: Diego Simeone
I think we'd need to win something this season AND progress to at least the QF of the CL to say he's had an OK season.
The FA Cup and a QF of the CL, for me, after the whole FFP issues, would constitute a step forwards. If we were to win the League again, then I'd say his job is safe no matter what happens in the FA/CL.

Re: Diego Simeone
We also have to judge him at the end of the season. That also includes his signings after this season as well.
The likes of:
Navas
Fernando
Mangala
Jovetic
For me, so far, none of them have been worth their price tags.
However, there is still time and I'm sure the likes of Mangala and Jovetic will improve the team somehow.
The biggest issue for me was the Negredo thing. Very puzzling at the time and we all called it - "what if we lose not just one, but two strikers?"....and it was sods law we lost Sergio and had the other 2 coming back from 2-3 week injuries.
Big mistake for me that needed addressing in the summer and unless it is in January, then it could prove to be our downfall....and MPs.

Think this line just about sums the situation up.blueboy wrote: If we were to win the League again, then I'd say his job is safe no matter what happens in the FA/CL.

Re: Diego Simeone
I think for us to do this, we need to strengthen in January again.
I think another striker is a must and maybe even another winger/attacking MF.
I think we'll need to go on a good run of scoring plenty of goals to win the PL. I just don't see that happening with Aguero out until at least February, and by then, we may be already too far off Chelsea.
I know Chelsea can slip up and we can be at the top by 1st Jan, all results pending, but I just think they have a better bench than ours right now.
I think if Reus was to come on the market in Jan, then we should be going all out to sign him, especially if he is on the market for the alleged £25m. That's what we'll get for Negredo in the summer - so one in one out.

Re: Diego Simeone
MP is still a lucky manager, his purchases have not improved the team and his tactics still baffle me sometimes.
Won't shed a tear here if he goes.

Re: Diego Simeone
We have a bunch of very good, very expensive, very highly paid players. We should always be there or thereabouts. I don't think Pellegrini has taken us to that next level and I don't think he ever will.
Top2 in the league and getting through the next round of the CL should be enough to keep the bosses happy. A good FA cup run would be nice.
Monday's draw is crucial. Get one of the Spanish teams and I think we'll struggle. Anyone else, and we've got a great chance to win the tie.

Still think they will keep him until Veira is ready to take over. I reckon season after next.

Re: Diego Simeone
After all I've read this week about the academy and Viera, I think he's primed by the board/Marwood/Khaldoon as the next manager.
