What happens to Denayer?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3202609/Manchester-City-deal-Nicolas-Otamendi-set-hasten-Etihad-exit-Jason-Denayer.html
TBF, his agent has every right to be pissed off. He signed a 5yr deal on the premise that he would be one of 4 CB's this season.
All I can say is this; if he isn't given some game time and he doesn't jump ahead of DeM (who they could class as another CDMF), then he's every right to ask for a move if he wants.
City need to be careful over this, as it's not sending the right message to the kids coming through, if DeM becomes 4th choice CB and Denayer 5th choice.
Personally, I think it's shit.

Re: What happens to Denayer?
I said as much yesterday. He's been right royally screwed. Unless, as you say, they class MDM as a DM rather than a CB.
I'd probably look for Jason to get games in the cups and maybe the CL if we qualify early. Then, if other CBs are injured/suspended, he should get in above MDM but MDM should be on the bench in case Denayer has a mare.

Re: What happens to Denayer?
I think Denayer is 4th chouice.
DiMi has been covering for DMf with Delph and Fernando injured.

Well his agent and Jason clearly don't know that, otherwise he wouldn't be making those comments.
Poor communication probably.

If we'd have insisted that Valencia pay the £25m they owe (sue them if they don't) and not sign their CB, none of this would be an issue. Why do City have to complicate virtually every transfer they make.

Guess we'll have to wait for it to be official - but it does look that way.

I've no idea, chap. It's almost like we daren't offend anyone or something.shakencity wrote:If we'd have insisted that Valencia pay the £25m they owe (sue them if they don't) and not sign their CB, none of this would be an issue. Why do City have to complicate virtually every transfer they make.
We could've got Sterling for £40m on the basis he wasn't happy and raked back the £25m plus costs by suing Valencia for breach of contract, which would've meant Sterling would be kicking around a £15m net spend. In other words, a bloody bargain.
I'd even have settled for Otamendi coming to us as a return payment. But no, they want more for him, even though he only cost them half what Negredo was worth. And we stump up, like the fucking mugs we are. How hard can it be to go in and say, "Look, you're in breach of contract. Otamendi comes to us as full payment, end of. We're not giving you any more money and we're not loaning Mangala to you. Those are our terms. If you don't accept them, we'll see you in court."
I think we need to bring in a set of bollocks and a spine to future negotiations.

I think it may be prudent to wait and see what the actual fee is. There's lot's of article claiming it's not a massive fee....however, as you said Leo, it'd be hardly surprising IF we have spent that much and allowed Valencia to stall on the Negredo fee.

Re: What happens to Denayer?
It'll be a bloody shame if Denayer ends up missing out because of this, though. I just hope what Moon said about Dimi being used as a DCM instead pans out, it's the only chance he's got for this season.

Re: What happens to Denayer?
well if the club think he needs another year out on loan by which time MDM will be 36 then thats what will happen. I think he should be given games in the cups and also the odd PL games when VK etc are injured which will happen. I agree though, that it does send the wrong message to the EDS players hoping to break into the first team squad.
