Nowhere in this story does the bbc say that the man stated that she had put the finger up at him. Why can't they report this?
I'm not saying what he did was right, but giving someone the finger is asking for a response...

Are you implying she gave him the bird?
He just said "why are you putting your finger up at me?"
That could be her pointing at him as she passed him.

Whatever she said or did that is just common assault in my view, plain and simple. Anybody that would chase after a woman on a bike and do that should get what's coming to them.
