But I agree, let's go in for Berahino. He's going to cost £25m and he counts as HG. Total no-brainer.

I really don't mind us getting rid of players (academy) that are surplus to requirements. There's no need keeping them here if they aren't going to make the grade.

My problem is this. Lopes was a shining light of the academy. He's being sold. We had Suarez who was sold.

We can't keep buying in overseas players, building them up, then just getting rid of them, only to keep replacing them with other players who will ultimately be sold.

Where's the continuity in that? It's as if we are looking/hoping for the next big thing and we'll end up like Chelsea.

I agree, Barker needs game time in the 1st team squad in cup competitions. If he doesn't work out, when he's had 'plenty' of opportunities, then get rid, but only after we really see what he can do.

There's no point in giving them 20 mins here and there, then selling them.

Use the C1C as the platform to really see what some of these kids can do....or don't bother and sell most of them. They won't get into the 1st team squad unless they have been given plenty of chances.

Those we've sold off in the past are acceptable losses, because they've hardly gone on to be world beaters where they moved to.

But I suspect Lopes may be an exception. I'd be keen to keep an eye on him.

Still, maybe getting field time with us and our level of quality in the first team might make a difference to these kids and it's a damn shame we're just not seeing it happen.

TBF, unless Bony is a long-term injury, I'd rather give Kelechi game time.

Niether Austin nor Berahino will start in the PL for us.

Why take players who can start games at many other clubs, only to sit them on the bench - a la Bony recently?

If Bony is out for 1-2 months, fair enough, look for a replacement, but neither of these players will improve our 1st 11 if Bony is out injured.

Further bench warmers for me.

If we want serious competition, spend £25-30m on Lacazette.
