I get the sentiment, but the article doesn't explain why he held him.

I'm not getting into some debate over who is right, who is wrong in the conflict, or whether holding onto a child, arm in a sling or not, is right.

All I will say is that as a soldier, when you are being stoned by a group, you have the potential of suicide bombers (which the Palestinians are known for) and a young boy is that close to you, with a sling on (which could be an IED), without the full facts of the story and what really happened, I'm not going to judge too deeply.

Does it look right? Of course not.

Do we know the facts? No.

Is the whole area a hotbed of racial intimidation and violence? Of course it is.

Will they ever find a genuine solution? Neither side seems to want peace nor a solution to the problem, so I guess it'll just go on and on and on - and we'll see these kind of images and articles forever in our lifetime.

I have kids, but I'm not going to judge that quickly to a DM article.

The short term solution is for Israel to stop its policy of expanding it's own settlements into Palestinian territory in the West Bank making Palestinians homeless in their own land. 
Until Israel withdraws back within it's original borders then there will never be peace. Even then, they have attracted so much hatred from countries in the middle east that it is unlikely that it will ever end.
But what do i know? i too don't wish to judge or get involved in choosing sides, it's just my opinion based on what i see reported by the media.
