Shame KDB is on the bench, but I guess he has to keep Nasri happy as well.
I'd be happy with a clean sheet and a win, whether that be 1-0, 2-0, not arsed.

Guess he wants to pack that MF area, get possession and try and get the likes of Nasri, Silva and Sterling in behind their defence. Not a bad tactic, as long as we execute it.
KDB is always an option and if we don't need Sergio, we can keep him on the bench for WHU.

Bony you are no Serg, play in Sterling. Why are we like Jekel and Hyde between this event and the league. We just bottle it.

Just need some composure in front of goal. I say risk Serg myself, Bony is out his depth.

Re: City v Juventus-Live Stream
For me, the fact that Nasri has replaced Navas has made a massive difference to our play.
It's like watching City of last season.
Nasri slows our play down immensely.
No width on the right hand side. No space for Silva inside as Nasri is swapping sides with Sterling and playing within 20yrds of Silva.
Bony looks like a PL player at best and needs to be doing far, far more.
Navas on for Nasri for me.
See how it goes and maybe bring on KDB.
Sterling should have buried that chance within the first 10 mins.
They looks they will just hold out for a draw - so maybe he'll make one change and see how it goes until 15 mins to go.
However, that was a poor and slow first half, nothing like we've played so far. They defend well, but we've let them.

Garbage.
Really not sure what Hart was doing. Follows the ball and then just stands there.

I'm simply lost for words, what is it about this competition we simply do not get? They just have no idea how to play against European teams. It has to be the manager, it has to be?

Pellegrini wants a twatting tonight.
Does he have a CL Lobotomist?
It seems that some fucker removes his PL brain and replaces it with some fuckwits one!
We play with attacking width for 5 games of the PL, win easily and concede no goals.
We then concede pace and width by dropping Navas for Nasri and we suddenly play like last season, slow, lethargic, 1m passes going sideways.
What does he do about it at half time? Fuck all.
He waits, he waits, he waits. Then, when we are 1-0 up and need a second to kill the game off, he makes no changes until they equalise. He keeps Nasri who was awful on the pitch. Bony was Andy Carroll in disguise tonight and we can see that Aguero was obviously fit enough to play....but waits until we are 2-1 down with 7 mins to go to bring him on.
TLMLF was back to his usual lazy self - it was only a matter of time until the CL came around and he got found out again.
Sterling was pants.
Hart was poor for both goals.
Up until half time, you could say we had the better chances, but changes needed to be made. But as per usual in the CL, the Manager was weak.
Overall, 2/10 for effort, application and determination from the players and manager tonight.
Fucking useless.

Sevilla beat Borussia Mönchengladb 3-0 as well.
If MP doesn't sort his shit out, we'll NEVER qualify from this group.
Why the fuck does he suddenly change a winning team, apart from Sergio, for tonight??
KEEP A WINNING TEAM FFS!!!
WIDTH, WIDTH, WIDTH has been our key.
Nasri should warm the bench from now on.

The first goal was a cross that we've seen numerous times creep into the back post, with nobody touching it. Hart follows the ball, then suddenly gets confused thinking the forward might get a touch - as it stands, he gets the slightest touch and beats Hart at his near post....so it was Hart's fault. You follow the ball and if the striker gets a touch and knocks in back across you, then fair enough.
The second, Kolorov (back to his shit self of last year), is too slow and lazy to win the ball first, deflects the ball into the path of the striker, 25 yrds out, he can only hit it around the defender, which he does, but Hart was too slow to react and move his feet.

Too slow. Sterling non existent except for two guilt edged chances. Juve get chances and stick them away. We were damn lucky with the Pogba 'offside' too. Silva was dire.

Yep. Only Dino looked up for it tonight. Everyone else was too slow getting forward. Bony is rubbish at this level. Even Silva looked poor.
Our best hope now is that BorMon are the whipping boys and we can get two wins out of Sevilla.

PELLEGRINI: "We played better football but Juventus had the experience to defend and scored beautiful goals."
Bang on. We had our chances but didn't take them. Fantastic ball from Pogba and great 2nd goal.

But the cross didn't score the goal!!
Mandzucic got a slight deflection on the ball that beat Hart on his near post.
Great cross, no disputing that, but Hart was seriously flat footed for both goals.

We are just naive, trouble is this is the fourth straight year we've been naive! I'm not surprised mind you. Naill Quinn getting a bit carried away saying season now in tatters? WTF hardly worth getting that excited. I'm annoyed but not surprised. Maybe they will surprise us next time .....

So let me get this right, we've conceded no goals in 5 games prior to tonight, scored 11 goals...does that mean we can no longer defend or take chances because we play an Italian team that languishes in the bottom third of Serie A, with no wins this season?
Changing the philosophy of the team was evident from the first 30 mins, that we were back to being too slow again. Our so called big player (TLMLF) for one, looked back to his lethargic best with no influence in MF. He allowed Pogba to outshine him with energy and invention.
The Manager was poor tonight, as he sat there and didn't make changes quickly enough.
Instead of replacing Nasri with Navas or KDB, he took Sterling off and kept Nasri on, so the balance of the team was still like for like.
Even with Navas on, we would have least have had genuine pace and width, but he fucked up.
He kept Bony on for 20 minutes longer than he should have.
It's too late to wait from 1-0 up, to 2-1 down to bring Sergio on.
We needed to have gotten that second goal to put it to bed, but he was too slow, too stubborn again in the CL.
I agree though, that Fernandinho was our best player tonight. The only one who could walk off the pitch and say he did his best - and that's simply not good enough - especially for the owner or the fans.
The crowd were quiet for pretty much all the game. That's surely an indication to the manager that things are not going well???

In second place then get Barca and get our arses handed to us yet againWensdi wrote:Think we'll still qualify.
I've been to every game so far this season and the difference tonight was so obvious compared to the other games, the tempo was so slow. That's not caused by an opposition snapping at our heels and pushing us back as Juve were quite content for us to have the ball and stay compact so that can only be on instruction from Pellegrini, why else would we introduce Nasri to slow the proceedings down if that wasn't the plan?
I think Pellegrini was planning on playing 4-4-2 again, why else would he have started Gerry Creaneys alter ego and Aguero together against Palace if he didn't have that in mind for tonight.
Really poor from Pellegrini

Re: City v Juventus-Live Stream
PPLF, if Pellers was really considering 4-4-2 at any point ever for tonight's game, he needs someone to take him into a room, show him how we LOST with that formation and WON playing 4-5-1 in every European game, then show him how we're top of the PL playing 4-5-1. And then ask him, via a baseball bat, if he's going to play 4-4-fucking-2 again in Europe.
Oh, go on then, I'll do it. If I must...

Re: City v Juventus-Live Stream
And that brings us back full circle to a manager who isn't worth the money he is paid end of. I still maintain we would do better in Europe with even Tony Pullis in charge. The Engineer is simply clueless. After the pre-season we had he seemed to stumble on the formation that worked and the 3-0 spanking of Chelsea got us playing really confident flowing football. Why change that just because it's a European match. Simply mind-fucking bizarre. Anyway he is still a dead man walking even with the new contract. He needs at least semi final of the CL to save his job and he's no hope of that. So every cloud and that

Re: City v Juventus-Live Stream
Everyone is saying we didn't have enough pace in our attacks. Even when we counter attacked, we lacked pace and turned backwards too much. Navas or KdB should have started rather than Nasri. Sterling wasn't at the races at all. Silva was poor. We can afford to carry players in the PL but we've no chance in the CL. I thought Sterling would be the man to take players on and create his own chances, but he's not doing that.
Watching the chances he created for Suarez 2 seasons ago shows how good he was.
Juve ran a few km more than us chasing around. I wish it had been the other way around and our players making them work their arses off even more.

Even Silva turned round and passed back to TLF or Dino when countering. It was exasperating to watch.
And I think Sterling would've fared better if we had someone of Chewy's calibre who could get on the end of his crosses, instead of Bony. I don't care how many he scored for Swansea, he's not with them any more and looking at what he was doing last night, he was a long way off. He could hold the ball up, fair enough, but his end product was woeful.

Agree Leo, Bony was poor but I think he is shit scared, he knows it's no longer Swansea and it is a big step up. Would still rather have Bony than Dzeko, but he just needs to bag a couple of goals and it will settle him. I hope.

the thing I noticed with Bony last night was unless it was a long punt in the air he wasnt' going for it.. not once did he try a run or ask for a pass.
the reason we kept passing backwards is there was no option or movement forwards

I can't disagree with pretty much anything above (apart from still preferring Bony instead of Dzeko).
It's 24 hours on and I'm still speechless.
You're ripping up the premier league with a formation and a set of players who look the epitomy of balance. You have to make a change because one of them isn't 100% fit. You leave everything else as it is.
Unless you are known as the 'Engineer'.
Of course we can still qualify, only an idiot would think otherwise. But last night has brought back the doubt. Is the start of the season just a flash in the pan? Guess we'll know soon enough...

I see Chelshit managed to dispatch their pub team tonight. And Arsenal went the same way as us and the rags; going a goal up and losing 2-1.
And Barca only drew with Roma! Didn't we beat them last season?
