Aguero's gonna leave
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has announced his intention to leave the Citizens and rejoin boyhood club Independiente after the 2018 World Cup.
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has announced his intention to leave the Citizens and rejoin boyhood club Independiente after the 2018 World Cup.
The Argentine's contract runs until 2019, with the striker adamant he will return to his native country after the tournament in Russia reaches its conclusion.
"In the last few months a lot of things have been said about a new contract, but I didn't pay any attention," he told radio station Independient en la Uno. "It's clear to me that when my contract ends, after the World Cup, I'm going to Independiente."
Aguero has scored 126 goals in 191 appearances for the Citizens since his £38m move from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
The striker admitted he was grateful that City have been open to selling him if the opportunity to leave ever arose but insists that he wants to play for no other club in Europe.
"Here at the club they are great with me, they always told me that they were open if the chance of a transfer arises. But where am I going to go in Europe?
"No, when I go, when my contract ends, I'm going to Argentina to play for El Rojo. From Manchester, straight to Avellaneda."

Wonder 'when' that interview took place, as he said only last week, he is staying until 2020.

This was in the MEN this week, he was saying how he's looking forward to staying longer and becoming the clubs record goal scorer (which, at his current rate of scoring and fitness, should be sometime in 2017).blueboy wrote:Wonder 'when' that interview took place, as he said only last week, he is staying until 2020.
I think that's an old article, I remember seeing something similar about six months or so ago.

I saw it last night on the BBC website, he says he's going back after the World Cup. How he's doing that before his contract expires is anyone's guess...
