For double the price, we could have had Mane on a 5 yr deal.

Maybe Pep's feels more comfortable with the players he knows and feels they'll do exactly as he instructs them. Liverpool haven't exactly got a great track record of taking players from Southampton lately.

Think I'd still rather us pay £30m for Mane who knows the PL, destroyed us last season, over an old player like Nolito who was 'average' at best for Spain.

I wouldn't have said no to Mane either. He gives great pace and has displayed a good work ethic too.

Or Moreno.

Yeah, a bit like Sterling was a few years ago. You need a bit of a maverick. Looking at him, I'd fancy him above Sterling at the moment.

The signing of Nolito doesn't excite me at all. Maybe it's because he's knocking on 30 and we know what he can do. He's hardly going to surprise us.

Signings like Mane, Mooy, Moreno etc. are more exciting because they are still young enough to learn loads more, they can be a bit maverick and we just don't really know what they are capable of.

Let's just hope Nolito can do the job that Pep wants of him.
