Guardiola has co-operated with writer Marti Perarnau for the book, Pep Evolution, and said of the City squad: 'I'll tell you one thing, anyone who's not prepared to work his a**e off will be out and I'll put one of the youngsters in. We've got some talented kids in the youth team.'

Pep Guardiola has said that any Manchester City player who doesn't 'work his a**e off' will be kicked out of the club.
City's manager was talking to the author of a new book that reveals why he took the job and just how disillusioned the club's owners had become with the team under the previous boss, Manuel Pellegrini.
Guardiola has been given unprecedented levels of control at City after the board agreed that all staff working with the first team need to buy into his philosophy — an indication that even after the 4-0 defeat by Barcelona in the Nou Camp on Wednesday and four games without a win, there will be no dilution of Guardiola's methods.

Pep Guardiola will not be changing his approach despite the heavy loss to Barcelona
Leroy Sane is one of only two current players under 25 who were signed in the summer
The City players have been warned over dropping their standards during match preparation

Guardiola was alarmed at the age of the squad he inherited, with more than half the players from last season's squad over 30, 17 being 28 or older and only four aged 25 or younger.

Since Leroy Sane and John Stones are the only current players under 25 who were signed in the summer and who are now in the first-team squad, it suggests further upheaval is imminent.
The book also says that after last season's Champions League semi-final defeat by Real Madrid, the board of directors at the club were shocked by the 'lack of effort, both physical and mental, made by the players' and the 'total lack of any sense of team spirit' and, in a meeting with Guardiola in Dubai in June, all parties agreed that a radical new approach was required.
Guardiola is said to have chosen City because there is less tradition and the club have only recently become successful. 'In City,' writes Perarnau, 'he will hear far less of the 'but this is the way we've always done it...'.
