We need so many defenders replacing, but we're going with a LB...  I guess that's our weakest position overall, but we're going to need a lot more than that to get us past our defensive frailties.

Not sure I believe it and not sure Clichy should be the scapegoat.

I just want a new defender that has incredible pace, great ball control, good positioning, solid in the tackle, a good header of the ball, good passer, fantastic crosser of the ball and an eye for goal.

Am I asking for too much?

What qualities does a good defender need? 

Terrific pace. 
Great ball control.
Good positioning.
Solid in the tackle.
Good header.
Good passer.

What else does a defender need then?
