Yep...both got incredible stats, but all we hear about is Lampard and Gerrard....

Good debate on TS...about time Merlin was given some credit.

Most City fans saying he's the best player ever to wear the shirt.

I know I mentioned more goals earlier as an excuse why he doesn't get the credit he deserves...but a TS calller said he's Spain's 4th highest goalscorer.........just checked and that's behind Torres, Raul and Villa, with the likes of Iniesta and Xavi nowhere to be seen in the top 10.....and yet they are classed as the best MF duo ever.

Just shows you....facts don't tell the full picture, clearly.

But Lamps and Slippy Steve were quality and did other things.

Oh, and both Xavi and Iniesta have more caps than Silva.

Fabregas has more caps but 12 less goals. Alonso, who gets credited as one of the best MF's ever....more caps 10 less goals.

I think he's 4th on the alltime caps list for Spain. That's with a midfield that offers Iniesta, Xavi, Alonso, Cazorla, Fabregas, Busquets, Pedro, Mata, Koke

He's won a WC and 2 ECs

Fabregas had 30 assists 2 years ago - all time record at the time.....with Silva on 23 with Iniesta....but can't find up to date ones.
