Apparently 19 killed and 50 injured - live on CNN News (9:30pm here). Just terrible. Suicide bomber apparently outside the concert venue.

Totally devasting news to wake up to..
My daughter had friends at this concert...I feel so lucky she never went. She's spoke to them all this morning and thankfully they are all ok.
Thoughts n prayers to everyone effected.

My daughter was working in the Printworks last night and got her train home from Victoria just a couple of minutes before the bomb went off. She was very lucky to get out before the carnage, but I dread to think what could've happened to her.

My niece was at the concert, she was hurt in the stampede but a sore leg is a lot better than a lot of people. How anyway can justify targeting a kids concert is simply beyond me. They are simply not human beings.

I'm sorry to hear she got hurt, Blistering, but glad she's home and safe.
I read that they said they'd targeted the Arena as a retaliation to bombing Muslim lands. Because a stadium full of kids would've been the perpetrators, naturally Disgusting bastards.

Cheers Leo, she was fine at the time until it sunk in later today. Speaking to my sister she is a little shaken now.

Horrible day. As the names and ages of those that died, especially the young girls, are released it bring more than a tear to my eye.

UK threat level raised to Critical.
More resources to be deployed and Operation Temperer now in force.
Intelligence clearly demonstrating that other attacks "are imminent"...
We'll probably now see more armed police and possible military personnel around major landmarks and events.

As the ring closes in on his accomplices, maybe they will try to go out with a bang.
I wanted to be at that vigil tonight, just no way I could make it.
In France, life goes on for everyone else. A couple of people mentioned it when I dropped my kids off at school this morning, but precious little else.

In Dublin.... not in ANY papers and the delegates on my Security course - briefly said "aww that was terrible wasn't it?"......

I managed to work off some anger in the gym. Listening to some Manchester music like Smiths, James, The Railway Children and New Order

Re: Manchester Explosion - Many injured & worse
Following on from John Atkinsons death yesterday we now have the desperately desperately sad news about Olivia this morning..as the father of a fellow 15yr old girl from Bury it really was tough to hear. We all prayed for better news, but realistically as time went on we knew what the outcome might be.
Her friend Adam (who went to the concert with her) was in surgery yesterday, as Doctors tried to save his right eye....his mum works with my wife. Thankfully he'll make it, but his life will never be the same again.
I think I'm quite a tough person emotionally, but for some reason I'm finding it really upsetting.

It's devastating Den...I've found it quite hard being over in Dublin and not at home for some reason.
I still spend a lot of time in Manchester city centre, was at the arena a week or so ago and have been there with my lads lots of times.
I cannot imagine what those parents are going through...and all for what?

Yep my kids are at the arena 3-4 times a year, it really could have been any of us. Truly shocking.
I know these people are radicalised but to be standing there looking straight at 8 year old children knowing what you were going to do. It's simply barbaric.
Anybody who goes off to be with those lunatics simply cancel their passport / citizenship, they do not get back into the country. How hard can that be to implement?

Doesn't fucking help when the US intelligence services interfere with your investigation!
Once again, the over-zealous fuckwits have potentially harmed an investigation by publishing photos of the component parts of the IED used....absolute twats.
They did the same in the 2006 liquid explosive plot....arrested a British national in Pakistan, who was the mastermind behind it, because we shared intelligence with them, that US and Canadian aircraft were the targets - which led to our side having to arrest those involved on the plot without getting all of the names of the cell members.
Wankers.

Nature of the US media, have to be first to announce it and sod the consequences. Hopefully Rudd gave it with both barrels, she is like a stern school mistress. Fucktards.
