There's always summat wrong with every country. Singapore gives you good security but you may lose some liberties. Finland, though cold, has a decedent reputation, especially for education.

Well we'll be losing our security soon....

This country needs to remove some of our citizens liberties....

I don't mind the cold....

Education I'm not arsed about.....

So....Singapore it is! Razz

As a former card carrying member of the Labour party and currently working in the public sector, I think the result is a disaster for the country.
Heaven help us if the terrorist apologist Corbyn and the under-qualified Dianne Abbott get any sort of power.
He can't even run his own party let alone the country.
It seems that every student in the country fell for the tuition fee bribe from Corbyn. But they will be the generation that suffer from the ultra pc sandal wearing liberals skewed view of the world.
The Islington elite will be celebrating over their chilled coffees and champagne cocktails this morning.
It beggars belief.

My older lad is studying Business at Liverpool John Moores...heartland of Labour voters. They've been discussing the election recently with their lecturers. There are a number of students in his class that come from the less fortunate (£) and even they all agree, that giving out free tuition places will not only damage the kudos of the current grades, but will end up lowering the grade boundaries for the future. In 10 years time, a degree will mean fuck all....as every Toxteth, Birkenhead scally will be able to attain one.

The fact that students have to pay for it over the long-term, means they have to work hard to ensure the best possible grade (carrot) to make them competitive in the real world when it comes to getting a job in their chosen career. Every lah, kid and mate will end up flooding the job market with low-end resulted degrees....then what? Kids have to stay on and do a Masters, just to attain a head-start in their chosen career -so they may end up at 30, applying for jobs? (stick).

Kids in my sons Uni have bought a car with their funding, the amount that they received for living in a certain postcode or the fact they may be from a single parent, or their parents are on benefits and don't work. My lad got £9,200....some on his floor got £16, 800.....and who pays for the rest of his shortfall in rent, food, extra towards his tuition fees????? Me and my wife who both work our arses off, full time. Me, who owns a small business and works 16 hours a day (when not on here!), 7 days a week. WTF do we get back??? But now every fucking scrote can go to Uni for free....only to ensure they don't have to work and can still claim their additional benefits as a student - and still work part-time and not get penalised!

It's a complete and utter fuck up.

And don't even get me started on the security of this nation under that tree-hugging, sandal wearing, terrorist sympathising cnut!

The lines of fighting age males are already queuing at Calais in the hope Corbyn will some how force the Tories to fold.

And, I believe, there are no tuition fees in German Universities, though there may be 'admin' fees of up to €1k per year.

Anyone can get a degree now virtually Blue. When I was at Uni in the mid 80s I was apparently in the top 3 or 4 % in the country. Now it means fuck all

On the other side of your coin my daughter currently has a £50,000 debt thanks to 4 years at uni. With the scandalous interest rate they are charging it is going up massively every year The likelihood of her paying even a small percentage of it back is slim so the tax payer will be picking her and millions of other student debts up. Cracking system !!!

the system needs an overhaul, but certainly cannot go free at the point of offering..

all the parties get caught up in going one way or the other and forget the right path is down the middle somewhere..

Yeah, I see that side as well Tony, but it still has to be paid for, one way or the other by the tax payer.

And I'd rather the student have the debt as a carrot to perform well, than a party claim "we'll give out free places to Uni students"....then subversively increase taxes of everyone to pay for it....which it was Labour did.

How the fuck did I get drawn into this....( Dawg ) My daughter is currently at Uni here. Just started her 2nd year. Fortunately for us we had the foresight ( well credit goes to the wife here)
to pay an insurance group so my part of my daughters uni fees are paid fore every year for 3 to 4 years. my wife joined a group called the ASG ( Australian scholastic group) who write up different degrees of policy's on a non profit basis to us the recipient. What that basically meant was we had the option to take out any number of policy's we saw fit that we thought would benefit my daughter. So from the age of 3 months we have been paying a monthly fee for 3 policy's  The 1st was her private school fees so from the age of 12 she got 2 thirds of her annual school fees paid for & we covered the remainder.

At uni as stated she gets her course paid for each year but usually there is a shortfall of around a thousand pounds. She can take out a HECS loan which is paid for by the government, whilst she is in education & she can pay that back when she is out in the big wide world earning her own income. The 3 rd insurance fee was around 13,000 pounds living expenses should she take up halls of residence or an apartment nearer uni. As she decided to stay at home we got that paid out & paid the lump sum of our Mortgage. This was a non profit or interest making saving. Basically what you pay in is what you get back. for the 1st 12 years we were paying into the scheme & they use those funds to help educate other students as well as invest the money to ensure strong growth. It is totally Tax free so the government do not get a stake in this. We have advised my daughter to try & pay off a little of the shortfall from her part time job so as she will have a minimal debt when she graduates.

I would advise you blue to live here, it may not be the best, but believe me there  is a darn sight worse places in the world to live.

I've lived in Perth before Oz...and Sydney - quite a number of years ago though.

I'm not 'actually' wanting to move - more of a rant after the calamitous Brexit/Election/Response etc.....

We're looking into holland too as it's not too far from each of our mothers (Paris and Manchester) and they are quite liberal overall it seems.

I agree kids should be made to pay something towards their further education, but not end up saddled with up to £100k of deb, especially if you do a 5 yr course like medicine.

£100k for a doctor, why not? £9k fees per year for 5 years and £10-£11k living expenses and it soon mounts up. And then they want to pay junior doctors less than a tenner an hour!!!!!

Yeah, but you forgot that most Uni students get a part-time job whilst they're studying....so it's hardly £10-11k. And they don't borrow that amount each year from the Government....they may have a student overdraft like my lad, but his is £1500 and he's paid that off already after 3 months working back at his summer job this year - he finished in March.

My other lads going to Uni to be a Physiotherapist.....£100k??? affraid

3yrs as a physio and he'll have time to work during the term or in the summer to keep it down. Doctors, dentists, vets etc. have to slog it out for 5 years.
