Sanchez to United
Hope this isn't true
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42687789
We should stop arsing about & just cough up the dosh
It's not like we haven't wasted loads of millions on dross like
Mangala, Bony etc etc....This is the chance to get a quality player
needed for our 4 pronged attack & stop the Rags from getting stronger

No can't agree, let him go. 400K a week, utter madness. Proves it was never about the football.
I like our stance on this, yes we can afford it, but the knock on is too great, with all other top players getting the same money etc.

Re: Sanchez to United
I agree...if you look at the sums, it's madness to get a player who has potentially, 2-3 years left at the top and no re-sale value.
£35m to buy him.
£20m signing on fee.
£12.5m to his agent.
£400k pw week over 5 years - £20.8m per year = £104m in wages.
That's £171.5m for a player that has no re-sale value and is close to 30 years of age.
No thanks...we could just go out and spend £100m on player and know we'll get something back on him.

Re: Sanchez to United
And you’d have to smash the wage system to bits. Aguero, Dave, kev, Sterling, Sane, Jesus might expect a massive pay rise too. It could easily cost the club an extra £50M a year and, quite frankly, it’s not worth it. We could get Griezmann in the summer and he’d take half the salary purportedly offered to Judas Sanchez

I'd be wary casting names around..
so far theres nothing but paper-talk and leaking stories here there and everywhere..
probably aimed at trying to drive the price up.
in all honesty, wouldn't have put it past Maureen to just whack the bid in to try and make us pay over the odds,,
he will look a right plank if we just call bluff and he lands a player he doesn't actually want, nor can he use.

Just reporting what CityWatch, Stu Brennan and many Manchester-based reporters are all confirming.
You might be right. It may be a ruse, but I think if Utd could get him, they'll pay whatever it takes to gazump us.
Who knows, apparently, there's a meeting today with Pep, Ferran and Txiki with regards to the situation. But one things for certain, City won't pay that money.
Guess it's down to the player and whether he wants ££ or titles.

If we lose him, we’ve been right by our principles.
If we get him, at the deal we wanted, then mercenary united have bigger problems than they can even think.

Re: Sanchez to United
Manchester City have decided not to pursue their interest in signing Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.
The club have decided the cost of pursuing the 29-year-old would be prohibitively expensive.
Manager Pep Guardiola, the club's owner Khaldoon al Mubarak and other senior officials are all in agreement.
It is understood the wages being demanded by Sanchez would have put him ahead of all City's star men, something the club decided they would not do.

It seems the days of us being held to ransom are over. Good. If the rags pick him up now, it'll prove their days of not overpaying for players are well and truly gone as well.
The winners here will be Arsenal and Sanchez's agent.

"why do selling clubs always up the fee coz its united" The answer is simple coz you have a reputation for paying silly money to try and re create past success.

But didn't the rags up the fee all by themselves for Sanchez? I'm sure that's what happened...

Re: Sanchez to United
If they offered a lot more than city (£35M as opposed to £20M), then that would be Arsenal's choice. But the player also has a say. He could just say no. I guess the extra money to Arsenal was aimed to make them prefer to send him there (as they could always refuse City's £20M).
It's all very confusing.
Read that United approached him in the summer and/or autumn and he said his desire was for city. So I guess the only way for them to have a chance, they've had to offer tons of extra money all round. Extra £15M to Arsenal. Extra £5M to the agent. And an extra ££30M over 4 years to the player.

Re: Sanchez to United
There's an article by Stu Brennan in the MEN, basically saying that Pep told the board that he didn't want Sanchez coming to the club in Jan, as his wage demands may unsettle the squad at a critical time. Sanchez signed an agreement to join City in the summer, but the paperwork was sent.
Pep and the board believed Sanchez was going to join on a free in the summer and when the whole United bid, money etc came into play, he never had any intention of upping any potential bid of £20m, paying him any more than the other players at City. He chose the balance of the squad over a player he wanted in the summer.
It's that simple. Pep and Sanchez had agreed on a deal for this summer. When Jesus got injured initially, he thought at £20m it was worth the risk...and if Sanchez would have accepted the £250k pw, the deal would have been done.
Well done Pep. So when the rags chat shite about history, not money..tell them to fuck right off.

Re: Sanchez to United
I read something last year about Pep not going back for players who turned him down once. That's why we haven't been back in for Bonucci or Laporte. They had their one and only chance with Pep. So Pep has some basic principles. Sanchez went against what he'd agreed so Pep no longer wants him. City would have supported Pep whatever he chose to do. If he wanted the club to stump up the extra money for Sanchez, they would have.

"It's not about the money, it's not about the money, it's not about the money"...what rag fans keep telling us.
The real figure is this:
Or precisely £507,595 (and 20 pence) per week. Or £26,394,950 a year.
And he would pay £11,863,528 in income tax (a year) and £531,423 in national insurance.
Is it any wonder we pulled out?? But noooo, he wanted United for their history!! Lmfao! #desperate

Re: Sanchez to United
So Pep is basically saying the same thing I've said for days - we don't want someone on huge money causing a ripple effect as other players demand an increase. And given our past history with FFP, that's precisely the thing we want to avoid, now we've got a wage structure in place.
I suppose it does leave us open to "being an Arsenal", but if we can keep the football going and win a cup or six, players may be more keen to come for what they can win, rather than how much money they can cream off the profit margin.

Re: Sanchez to United
Think we'll need to find a happy balance in this day and age. Money does talk, regardless.
With the likes of KDB negotiating a new deal, the club have to be mindful, that players being paid £275k pw NET, are a benchmark and bargaining tool. We won't be an Arsenal, as long as we make them a worthwhile offer...be frugal and it could implode.

Re: Sanchez to United
I just cannot believe that Sanchez is on a basic £500k week. I heard not worked out at £14M per season but it wasn't qualified if they'd divided his signing on bonus over the 4.5 years of his contract.

Re: Sanchez to United
fucking madness. If Pogba wants parity, it'll cost united an extra £5M a year. can't seriously see anyone else pushing for something similar though.
That's the difference as I see it with us as we've got several really good players already.

Re: Sanchez to United
Ive heard it said that a lot of the player salaries are tied to performance, so if we win the PL, CL etc they will get a large bonus & with the way it’s going with Pep the players have to be fairly confident of getting a pay off on at least one of those.

Iv still not seen anything to say he's actually signed for the Rags. Until that becomes official, I still say he'll end up at City.

Re: Sanchez to United
Nothing official about signing....he's apparently agreed terms, but everything is down to either Mhki deciding to go, or United paying AFC the £35m they want, which increases the outlay even further!!shakencity wrote:Iv still not seen anything to say he's actually signed for the Rags. Personally, I think City have made it clear...they are not interested in a deal in January, now Jesus will be fit in a few weeks time.
