Leroy Sane - what's going on?

Be interested in getting your thoughts on what's going on with Leroy.

1. Ego? 

I'm sure many of us have heard rumours that he has a bid ego - which is quite surprising considering the company he finds himself in every day. I've read no 'approved sources' come out and say this, so it's all speculation, however, his body language does suggest a little petulance - but that doesn't mean he has a big ego and that this is causing problems.

2. Disappointment for being dropped form the WC squad with Germany?

I can understand this theory - as I'm sure after the season he had with City last season, you'd have thought he would have been one of the first names on Low's squad list. However, he's had plenty of rest and I'm sure Pep spoke to him during the summer. Some individuals can take these things badly, some just dig deep and get on with to prove the decision was wrong - or is this being driven by his ego being hurt?

3. A mixture of the above 2?

4. Does the fact he hasn't played for so long, mean that he is one of those players that take some time to get going and he's frustrated because Pep hasn't been starting him - a vicious circle almost?

5. Another problem?

6. Does he need to start to regain some confidence? Remember - he's still a kid, but Sterling has gone through 100x worse scenarios than this.

Any thoughts?

Definitely a mix of 1 and 2. Also heard that he's spoken out if turn and Pep certainly doesn't like that. You can see from the Amazon documentary when Delph got sent off against Wigan and Leroy got subbed, Pep said sort your face out.

I don't know it is all if's but's & Maybe's. Sometimes we read into things that are not there. Who knows what's going on in his head. Does he have a girlfriend? what's his home life like? It really could be anything. I just put it down to a dip in form like last season. Came back for the carabao cup scored 2 in that then the Liverpool game 2 as a sub ( could have been the other way round as to which came 1st but then went on a confidence  spree. So nothing to worry about as far as I am concerned.

When I was a footballer I just wanted to play football, not be on the subs bench or come on for 15 minutes, so I would imagine he's pretty pissed off that he's not getting game time either at City or for Germany. Obviously the way to get more time is to prove your worth but that's not easy if you are only playing for 5-15 mins which he has done in the 3 PL games so far. I'd say let him play from the start and give him 75-90 minutes and see how he goes.

Last season he couldn't get into the team the start because of Mendy. Mendy got injured and Leroy blossomed.

This season, he cannot get into the team because of Mendy.

Dip in form Oz....he's not started a game.

You can have a dip in form not just from game time blue. He maybe struggling in training which is why pep isn't picking him who knows. I did watch the video but both you and ray want to know what's wrong with sane I am not a psycho analyst and I am not reading things into his demeanour that may or may not be there.

He looked a little ring rusty on Saturday. Perhaps getting left out of the Germany team for the WC has hit him a bit (although he's probably best not being involved in that shower of shite, frankly!)

He's young and bound to have a little petulance, probably not helped by the WC debacle. I'm sure Pep will sort it out.

He’s an incredible talent when he’s at his best, hopefully Pep can sort him out. Agree that his leaving the German camp early is pretty telling. If there’s one positive it’s that we are not getting a steady leak of disgruntled quotes from his agent that he’s unhappy etc as we did with Yaya & the Rags are getting from Podga.

may explain his mysterious omissions of late from the city squad if his mind has been on other things?

That could explain a lot Moonchester, feel a bit guilty for jumping to conclusions now.

Bloody hell...can understand that his GF had a baby, but Silva's baby nearly died and his attitude was first class.

And lets face it - he's not the first player who's GF/Wife is having a baby.

I guess this explains omission from squads, but it can't surely affect him that badly. If anything, you'd be full of beans!

I know he's younger than Silva - but I still think there's something else in the background. Just my opinion.

Well if news reports are to be believed, mental illness and depression is a growing problem amongst young men in particular!
