Help - no emails
I have got myself into a massive problem with my work emails.
I used a local guy to set up my emails a few years ago but he has suddenly disappeared and my work emails are down (since the weekend).
Besides being massively frustrating, it isn't good for business.
I don't think I have any info on my details at all. I have my website hosted by a local company (decent size, so they won't disappear), but this local guy sorted out my emails. Without any info, am I screwed?

Re: Help - no emails
May give him a call later after I have sorted my frigging car out. I think my suspension is fucked. The first garage I call, can't even see me until July! The second say next Thursday.
Then the mother-in-law gets me an appointment for 1 O'Clock today. Bleeding Mercedes garages. Bleeding France!

Aye Jordan, it can be a real pain sometimes. Having said that, the lead for the garage turned out to be good and he says he can sort my car out at a very decent price.Let's hope so.

Re: Help - no emails
Topdawg what is the issue with your e-mail? I'm afraid to say I'm an IT Manager for my sins so could give you some pointers?
Couple of questions
1. When you say "email is down" you cannot receive or send any or they are just missing?
2. What software do you use to access you e-mail?
3. Do you know what sort of system your work emails are hosted on? This may be a little over technical, but is it POP3, is it IMAP or is it Microsoft Exchange/Outlook?
4. Do you have Access to your e-mail from a web browser (like gmail or hotmail style) and can you get it on your phone?
If you can describe what has happened I will have a think.

Re: Help - no emails
OK Blistering.
I used to use outlook, but it had a few problems (I was told my French ISP caused some of the issues).
I also had my emails available on MDaemon which wasn't as good as outlook, but it did the job I needed.
Now the MDaemon has stopped working. I did have some issues on and off for a few months but the guy I use sorted them out within 24hrs. This time it's been nearly a week and I get an error message that I have never got before. In fact, it wouldn't even let me load the page to put in my details.
The funny thing is Blistering, it is back up now! I was checking to copy the error message for you and it is back up and running.
I did email my IT guy this morning (after leaving voicemail messages earlier this week) so maybe that's what's done it.
I reckon I need to change my 'supplier' as, even though my business is small and I only have a few clients who can call me if there is a problem, I also use the email address for many things such as access into websites (such as my City account) etc.
I guess the question is how to change my supplier. I already have a company hosting my website (costs me £6 a month).

The provider might have had a problem, which was affecting you (and probably a lot of others too).

Re: Help - no emails
Glad it is back,
MDaemon is a corporate system similar to exchange by the look of it? Sounds like the guy that sorted it for you hosts this then? Or is it all with your ISP and you just use the MDaemon Client instead of Outlook. Looks like you could do it either way?
Anyway, doesn't really matter if it is working.

Re: Help - no emails
The guy hosts it himself. I set it up when I was in the UK and the idea was that it would seemlessly carry on when I moved to France. I use MDaemon Client because my outlook kept falling down.
Thanks for the info and help guys.
