Why would he leave Fulham for Aston Villa? I don't get it.

Villa are perceived as a bigger club. Mainly by Villa fans, brummies dont actually think so. I think Fulham are also seen more as a "family" type club than a progressive forward looking club. Its Michael Jackson V Black Sabbath

I think there is one already arnt Young and Downing both up for grabs? Didnt Dunne also say he had no problem with Hughes that it was higher in the club were there were problems? I think Cooks saying richard Dunnes name didnt trip off the tongue was the first inclination of this.
However I also think deep down that Dunne will be annoyed with Hughes for not fighting to keep him. Remember as well Wensdi Ireland is back there as newcastle seem to want to feel more at home in the championship. I think Ashley is trying to pay the geordie fans back before selling the club, or trying too.
