Mangala so far?
Now i don't know how you feel about him, but at the minute i rate him as useless.
He needlessly gives away free kicks (picking up yellow cards along the way) and looks very sluggish from a standing start, as he did for his 2nd yellow....not something i'd expect from someone who costs £30m+. For someone who's over 6ft he also struggles in the air and his positional sense leaves a hell of alot to be desired.
He may prove to be good over time, but i just expected him to start off a lot better than he has done.....to say i'm not impressed thus far is an understatement.

Re: Mangala so far?
A few of them give free kicks away just outside the box, he isn't the only one. He gives stupid free kicks away though. Stupid tackles when he should just jockey the attacker. He doesn't look comfortable in the ball and frequently touches the ball a bit too far away from himself and near an opponent. I think it was on MotD or MotD2 that they said Mcnair was better positioned for a cross (when mango scored that own goal).
I think he'll prove to be a load of expensive wank.

I'm willing to give him time. He's only young in defenders terms.
Yes, he looks a little sluggish, but maybe that's because his starting position isn't the best, which may come with more game time.
As Dawg said, Vinny, Zaba and DeM give away stupid free kicks away about 25-30 yrds from goal...so you have to ask why they do it, or why they are there in the first place?
If you watch Chelsea defend, you rarely see Cahill and Terry making tackles 30 yrds out from their goal. They tend to sit in the middle across the 18 yrd box and let their DFM's to that job, therefore, their starting positions are better as they can see everything that's going on in front of them.
I thought he had done OK yesterday compared to other games. He got some good tackles/blocks/headers in, went on a great run with the ball (only for the cock of a ref to call it back)...his first booking cost him.
I'm happy to give him time.
We all gave DeM pelters for the first 4/5 months of last season...and he had loads more experience that Manga.

Absolute waste of money, beings nothing more than Nasty or Jolo. Demi won me over last year but this clown is simply a calamity waiting to happen. His control is shit, his passing is worse and I panic every-time a ball goes near him.

He probably needs more games to gain confidence and develop a better understanding with his defensive team mates, he wont get this if he keeps getting dropped. Having said that, for the money we paid i was expecting him to be good from the start.

He will get better with time, players need time to adjust to the premier league. Dont right him off yet.
