Re: Reus signs new deal at Dortmund
That's to secure the best possible price in the summer. Therefore, he is going to be sold and he will now cost more than his £20m buyout clause.
Good and bad news.

He'll probably even get some sort of bonus if he is sold when/if they get relegated. Shrewd move all around, as he's not likely to want to hang around if it happens.

What's he worth now? £40M? I guess we aren't interested in him because we'd have done something if we were.

Re: Reus signs new deal at Dortmund
He had a £20m buyout clause....that's why they've done the deal to ensure they get more....probably £30-40m now after he's just took a nice whopping £5m signing bonus.
He'll still be worth signing for around £30m....but if it becomes a bidding war, he could end up at Real for £45m...which is way over the odds - so maybe we will get him.

Give over, we won't get him! Well, not unless someone in the scouting network realises there's this whole massive country called Germany where there are some damn good footballists going cheaper than their counterparts in Spain and Portugal.
Germany is like the Aldi of the football world. We're currently shopping in Waitrose and Sainsburys. But hopefully we will realise, like the middle classes, that Aldi isn't a step down from Asda, but is more like a more reasonably priced version of Tesco.

Re: Reus signs new deal at Dortmund
....Over the last 6 months my wife now shops in our new Aldi in Chester, switching from Sainsbury's, except for their fruit.
Great analogy.
Aldi is bloody marvellous...went there at the weekend.
Once again, Leo turns a football thread into a conversation on something totally different!

Re: Reus signs new deal at Dortmund
Oh yeah, so I have!
I get fruit from Aldi as well. It's not bad, actually, better than you'd think. I have to go midweek, it's bloody heaving on weekends.
But yeah, we've really missed a trick with Reus. He'd have been a better bet than Mangala and only half the price.
