Stoke vs City - Live Thread
Ok....so a massive game tonight after such a poor January and last Saturday.
The manager seems to think he isn't under any pressure and still believes we can bridge the gap to Chelsea. He also believes we have been playing well...but fuck knows how!!
He was asked in his press conference about the system and players he chose on Saturday and he seemed to dismiss this with the excuse that we hadn't scored in 2 games prior to that...however, I wish somebody would have gone a little further and asked if he really thought 2 DMF's and 2 strikers with no width was going to bring about a great performance!
So, on to tonight. Stoke have some injuries but it won't matter, they've been playing well lately and scoring goals. Hughes always has them up for us, so I'm not expecting an easy game, but what I am expecting is a different bloody set up and different personnel!!
So, for me, I'd go with this:
...............................................Hart......................................................
Zaba......................Vinny............................Mangala.....................Clichy...
..........................................Fernandinho.................................................
Navas.....................................................................................Milner......
..........................Silva......................................Nasri..............................
................................................Aguero...................................................

wouldn't surprise me to see both full backs rotated.

I'd still give Barker a go. If he's as ineffective as Navas usually is, haul him off at HT.

I'd love nothing more Dawg, but we all know MP won't do that.

The 2 Ferdy's keep their place. The saving grace is Milner is in the team. Probably to play on the right hand side....can only see Stoke wanting to exploit the gaps on our left with Nasri and Kolorov...but apart from that, a little more balanced than Saturday.

Looks like an enforced change as well...no Clichy.

He puts two guys who can cross a ball (Jimmy and Kolarov) and drops the guy they can cross it to (Dzeko).
Always better with Jimmy starting.

Yeah, but away from home against Stoke, it does look a little more balanced and we'll have in theory, a 5 man midfield when needed.
Hoping Aguero is on fire tonight and finishes his chances that come his way....as he's looked way off the pace so far.

They always bring him back too early and we rely on him when he's brought back. It's gone a bit downhill since we stopped playing with Jimmy up top.

I'd still rather have Aguero up to top when he does hit form....and Milner will give him an assist tonight.

He's set up right for me. Going to be tough though, always struggle at Stoke.

Time to stand up and be counted. Anything less than a win and I fear it is all over.

Long night ahead if we don't get our balls out.

This has train wreck written all over it. Having said that, Stoke look a bit dodgy at the back.

Teams bully us now, we've been seriously found out tactically since the Burnley game and MP has done nob all to arrest the slide.

Mangala hasn't a scooby doo how to handle Crouch, it's embarassing. Lucky again at the back.

Why is Nasri changing his boots? Didn't he warm up out there?
