He said: “I don’t like to work with people who don’t want to stay.
“Kola helped me last season a lot with many, many things.
“He has a big chance to go back to Rome.
“He spoke to me and said he wanted to leave.
“I don’t like to be with players who don’t want to stay.
“I wish him all the best. He is really nice guy - we had an excellent relationship.
“I wish him and his family all the best.”
Guardiola was forced to play Fernandinho and Eliaquim Mangala at left back in Thursday’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United, due to his lack of options in that position.
"Of course we woud like to have the players as soon as possible," he said. "We know the transfer market and how complicated it is and we are going to find the best solution.
“We need defenders. We need two or three defenders.”
