Could we recall Maffeo in January?

Yeah, like Danilo is a right back and Delph and Zichenko are MF's....just from memory. Keep up SB.

Pretty sure we are good for RBs. Pep has mentioned that Zichenko could also play LB so hes the back to Delph I'm guessing.

Ignore the 'Sid Waddell' commentary...  but I think for most of this game, Maffeo marked Messi and most of it on the left side, close to being a LB. Just saying, maybe I'm wrong.

But Pep converts the most unlikely players into other positions. Danilo has played more as LB and a right sided CB than he has a RB. Delph is a left sided MF, but played LB. 

There's nothing to say he couldn't take a player like Maffeo and make him into a decent LB if we needed cover...especially if he can mark Messi out of a game!

I think he'll probably go for Bertrand in January, if Mendy's injury is as bad as the so-called 'media experts' claim it is...even though Mendy himself has told journos via Twitter "I don't even know how bad it is, so how do you, are you medical experts now?"

Ok I might be oversimplifying things, but I think Pep mostly takes midfielders & finds other roles for them. He once famously said that he wished he could play only with midfielders (I'm paraphrasing here) & in the last press conference when talking about Delph he said he loves repurposing midfielders because "they see the global picture" or words to that effect.

Your guess is as good as mine, but come January I think he might go for a less well known pacy young winger in their early 20's.

He is normally used as a RB. Not sure anyone's disputing he's normally a RB, but he was given a man marking job on Messi, who played the majority of the game on the right, Maffeo's left. 

Isn't Danilo naturally a RB?

Not sure we need another RB, so if he can only play RB, he'd be better staying at Girona.

Yes that's the problem though Danilo is not as strong playing on the left (e.g his Brighton performance) which is what we need. Otherwise Delph wouldn't get a look in.Looks almost certain we will buy again in January
