they've played very well since we blitzed them early on

nervous 2nd half, and we got lucky a few times, but we deserved that.

Never in doubt, this team impresses me more and more, and we have as good a keeper as anywhere in Europe.

We deserved the 3 points they got nothing from free play. Very nervy 2nd half, but they are at the end of the day a quality team. Some praise is due for Sterling I think another vital goal in a big, big game.

Shakhtar will play Feyernood at home and should get to 9 points. a draw against napoli or city would mean napoli go out if they don't get at least a draw against us. they've got to go for the win.

OK...on to the game.

Wow, proper game of two halves.

First 35 mins, we were excellent, however, Sane was very sloppy when he had the ball around their box. Not sure if that was why KDB was having a go at HT or not.

Then, all of a sudden, the penalty changed us. Great save by Ederson....not seen a replay, but it sounds like Walker was clumsy.

That sort of set the scene for the 2nd half. We looked sloppy, lethargic, we weren't harrying them like we did in the first half.

I thought Walker looked ponderous on the ball, Sane was awful. KDB seemed to be drifting into too many different positions and on several occasions, he and Silva seemed to occupy the same space.

Jesus doesn't half work hard and he looked knackered halfway through the 2nd half.

Ferdy was excellent in the first half, then made some awful passes in the 2nd.

Being behind their goal for the second half, you could see them playing with 3 attackers to stop us passing it around so easily like we did in the first half, and on several occasions they nearly got in through one too many back passes.

Not sure about the 2nd penalty, it didn't look like one from where we were.

The referee was fucking useless. Some of the decisions he made were bizarre to say the least.

But, they are flying in Serie A and we made them look absolutely ordinary in that first half. Can see some changes for the weekend...some looked very leg-weary and no wonder with this high pressing game. Sane and Silva looked heavy-legged and it wouldn't surprise me to see these two rested to the bench, possibly Sergio in for Jesus as well.

I know we always say "play the best team"...but tonight, some looked very tired in the second half.

Even Delph was giving simple balls away.

Hope Silva is OK...not sure how bad his head injury was.

I'm sure Pep will not be too impressed with that 2nd half, so he'll have to manage this team and maybe used the squad where possible to give some a rest.

Overall, great win. I predicted a draw and I guess but for Ederson, I wouldn't have been too unhappy with a point as they were the better team overall in the second half.

One more point, but can see them learning a lot from tonight...so not expecting an easier 35 mins like we had in the first half.

Another job done. Move on to the weekend.

The 2nd pen was nailed on. A 3rd goal whilst we were on top would have probably let us coast. Passing out from the back is risky but it also creates opportunities too.
I thought we were a little too casual too often and not always thinking of the team's best interests but going for personal glory. 
But Napoli did show they are made of stern stuff and have offered the best blueprint for other teams to copy. But most teams aren't as good as them so this tactic will prove fruitless for most league opponents.

That was the first pen we've conceded after saving the previous 6 CL pens.

So this is what was going on at HT....KDB wanted to talk to the 4th official. Sensibly, he was ushered away by Ferdy and Silva.
