As the great Bill Shankly once said, “It’s all about opinions, son.” Brian Clough might have retorted, “Yes, but it’s mine that matters, young man.” You get the drift.

Managers enjoy their chance to comment and put their own slant on things. Enter David Moyes.

Sky Blue-tinted glasses off, this writer sat in the Press conference after City’s 2-0 win over Everton and wondered if the Toffees’ boss and yours truly had witnessed the same game.

Having watched Everton’s ambition – such as it was - to leave with a 0-0 draw by packing every player in the box every time City attacked, I and possibly 45,000 others were left with the impression that sometimes, you get what you deserve.

Everyone can see what a great job Moyes has done with very limited resources at Goodison Park and he’s absolutely right in asking why he should bring a team to the Etihad Stadium just to please City and the home fans.

But to spend the Press conference complaining about the referee, bad decisions at vital times and Vincent Kompany’s tackle on Tim Cahill is a little rich.

What wasn’t mentioned was the systematic fouling on David Silva throughout or the fact that City had 19 shots to Everton’s six and enjoyed a 64% share of possession compared with the visitors’ 34%.

As Rafa Benitez may have said – “That’s a fact.”

So no surprise that today’s papers are full of Moyes’ vitriol. In Peter Lansley’s feature in The Times*, he quotes the Everton boss in full flow in his piece:

“Everton had five players cautioned to City’s one and Moyes accused the officials of failing to apply the laws consistently. ‘Overall, we found the way the officials treated us and the players really difficult to take,’ Moyes said.

“'We found it difficult to talk to them. We found it with the fourth official as well. He was very much the same.’”

The fourth official more likely switched off after the first half-hour of Moyes’ complaints which possibly ranged from the length of grass to the direction the wind was blowing. Only joking...

There’s more of the same around in various other papers, but perhaps the wily Scot would emerge with more credit if he just admitted his side were well-beaten on the day.

He’s a very good manager and he has a hard-working and resuloute side, but blaming everyone but the tactics deployed on the day is maybe not the way to go?

If you missed the game, check out the Tunnel Cam video for a taste of what was a feisty 90 minutes' action...

Nice... And I hope they get relegated... The most annoying thing is they go and lose to westbrom but since lescott, the city game has become their cup final, the bitter Scottish cunt just wont let it go!

I wouldnt mind but it was his mate Hughes who "disrespected" him with the Lescottsituation and had sod all to do with Mancini yet he seems determined to have a pop at Mancini every time.

The management of envy.
