Mahrez!!!!
Late rumours that we're interested because of Sané injury which will keep him out of the EFL cup final and probably well into March,

Interesting...I like Mahrez. Think Pep would get a tune out of him.

Re: Mahrez!!!!
I like Mahrez too and he's been playing well. Leicester wouldn't want to sell and he'd be £50M.
Not sure if this is just because of the length of Sanés injury so some journey has made it up. What happens when Sané is back?

Re: Mahrez!!!!
rumours he's putting in a transfer request to force through a move.
Leicester will flatly turn down £60M
But they would have taken £50M in the summer, maybe even £40M!!!

Jamie Jackson saying £100M+. Sounds like bollocks to me.
I'd rather put a solid bid ion for Hazard or save it until the summer.

Re: Mahrez!!!!
I'm all for getting Mahrez. He's fast, he'll run at a defender and he's got a pretty tasty cross on him. But with all the TV dollar these days, clubs in the PL don't need to sell like they used to and I'm guessing Leicester are still getting enough attention from their league win to tide them over.

If a transfer request is put in...it changes everything. I'm hoping we get him for £45-50m.

They're playing for nothing this season....it'll make no difference whatsoever to their season.
Be great if we can get him....think he's a top player who not only assists, but scores as well.

Well we tried, it was Arse that messed up deal. Anyway think he would make a quality signing & at 26 he fits the age profile i.e good for the next 4 seasons or so unlike Sanchez who would be well past his prime then. Would love to see what Pep could make of him. Dont think it will go through anyway so probably a mute point.

Re: Mahrez!!!!
Mahrez is only 26 and to be honest, I'd rather have Mahrez than Sanchez for the next 3-4 years, rather than 2 good seasons out of Sanchez.
City offered £50m, Leicester want £75m. He's put in a transfer request and hasn't travelled for tonight's game. I think if we can meet in the middle, around £60m...he'll get close to £200k pw, significantly less than what Sanchez wanted and agent fees won't be a problem.
I still don't think Diaz is ready yet as a replacement for Sane and we've lost that direct attacking intent of Sane, as Bernardo is a different player. Mahrez is left-footed and scores goals...so it only strengthens our squad fighting on 4 fronts.
Still be surprised if it happens though.

pretty much agree, although I feel Diaz needs to be given a chance.
Could be a blessing if we don't get Mahrez to that end...?

Re: Mahrez!!!!
Diaz needs to learn when, and where, to try his skill on opponents. Sometimes, I feel he tries too hard but he's damn good when he pulls it off.
So, he needs game time to learn.

Re: Mahrez!!!!
so the word on the street (or SSN) is player plus cash total value of £65m..
my only guess would be £50m cash and Zinchenko as £15 makeweight?
failing that could only be bernardo, but he's a bit promising/good to ship to Leicester??

Re: Mahrez!!!!
boss at work threw Toure and Mangala as possibles for makeweights.
I can't see Toure going to Leicester, as he (and slimeball agent) want MLS really for bumper pay-day last move...
Mangala possible, I hear Leicester were interested in Keane from Everton (and Everton were looking at Mangala), so maybe cut out the middle man and get him off the books fully??

Itchy was a 25 mill, straight buy in the summer... (with buyback clause).
so would have to be a player currently on our books...

Re: Mahrez!!!!
Bernardo won't be offered, and wouldn't go, to Leicester. No way.
Who could be a makeweight? Mangala possibly but he'd want a step higher, but may haver to cut his cloth accordingly. Maybe a couple of kids as well. Joe Hart? Patrick Roberts would be a good one to get rid of.

Haha...his teammates are well pissed off with him trying to force a move now.
They should have accepted anything City offered, as they'll never get anything better for him in the future.

Re: Mahrez!!!!
Good, last hours of deadline day always reeks of desperation to me. We are not desperate. He was 30-40m last summer if we wanted him. 60m now is crazy money for effectively injury cover.

Spot on Den, follows on from my post. He was a 30-40m player in the summer.
Wonder how the fans will welcome him back this time

Re: Mahrez!!!!
He wanted out in the summer and I think it took a little time for him to get back to form. Maybe it will again (hopefully not against us in a few weeks time).
Leicester were asking for a crazy £95M whether cash or cash plus player.
I seriously hope he downs tools and fucks them around.
In the summer he could have gone for £40M-£50M and now they want almost £100M!!!

Re: Mahrez!!!!
I read is as the deal was £65m (including player)...
so £50m plus zinky/Tosin (at £15m) I thought was high, but could roll with it..
if they were after £65 cash and players ontop, too right we don't need him that badly.. just too much.

Re: Mahrez!!!!
If Sanchez was worth £60m, Mahrez, a PL winner, younger and was PL POTY, is worth the same amount IMO. Especially, as he'd be on less than £200k pw.
If I'm honest, if Bernardo is all we've got going into the League Cup final and CL, as cover for Sane...I think we've been significantly weakened up front with his injury. Looks like Jesus will also be another 10 days on top of his prospective comeback...so he might be pushing it to be fit for the LC final.

Was thinking more of Jesus not being fit....and with loads of games around it, it'll mean a strong forward line going into the LC final on the back of tough games and with tough games coming a few days later.Moonchester wrote:Mahrez is cup tied anyways from the final, he played against us..

Stick Diaz on the left or give zinky that spot with Danny at LB

Re: Mahrez!!!!
Zinky isn't really good enough for an attacking role, is why he's being half groomed for left back.
Straight swap for me, in other thread, Diaz straight in to replace Sane... or if he does have to play Bernard, whack him out left, stop shuffling Sterling about to accommodate Bernard..

Re: Mahrez!!!!
Can't see Diaz replacing Bernard now he's just had a few games. Be a bit of a slap in the face after a goal and a few assists.
Hopefully, he may be able to take a player on if he plays on his natural foot.

Re: Mahrez!!!!
Glad we didn't get mahrez or sanchez. As talented as they both are, they could be disruption to team chemistry. No point paying ridiculous money when we have such a balanced team. Even w odd injury we still have enough to compete at the top. Maybe those that call us the big spending city will shut it.

I agree - think we'll be just fine. 15 pts clear of the pack now - just keep playing like we have been. What a great coach we have and what an inspiration he must been to the squad.

Re: Mahrez!!!!
Rumours are, City enquired about Mahrez 2 weeks ago and were told they could have him for £80m cash. City offered £50m + a £15m player but LCFC wanted cash only, so City pulled out of the deal, hence why Mahrez is so pissed off - it wasn't a last day thing.

Re: Mahrez!!!!
Had to dig back this far for the Mahrez thread but I say we just leave it with this one now, 75 million is too much money and if the following quote from BBC Gossip (admittedly is from everybodies favourite bog roll the Sun), I just think he looks like hard work and we have a great dressing room at the moment.
"Riyad Mahrez's proposed move from Leicester to Manchester City is being held up because the Algeria midfielder, 27, wants a pay-off from the Foxes before leaving."
