newcastle v city
Must win game.
I think Mendy might not be 100% ready to start this game so Walker keeps his place. With Kompany injured, either Stones or Otamendi to partner Laporte.
Ederson
Walker, Stones, Laporte, Danilo
Fernandinho
KdB, Silva
Sterling, Jesus, Sane

Yep, if Mendy is not ready then that team more or less picks itself. I too would go with Stones over Otamendi and Jesus is on good form recently so it would do his confidence the world of good to start him again and have Sergio on the bench.
These are the games we are expected to win we failed against Leicester and Palace and if we fail to beat the Magpies then lets face it we dont deserve to be champions again. I'm confident we will win comfortably tonight

Its live on BT Sport tonight any of you with BT Broadband, can't see anything but a comfortable win with the form we are in. Going to be really cold though.

31Ederson
2Walker 5Stones 14Laporte 3Danilo
17De Bruyne 25Fernandinho 21Silva
7Sterling 10Agüero 19Sané
Can’t argue with that. Important to close the gap to one point. Regardless of the game in hand, it creates a different kind of pressure for the Dippers.

Bent f***King ref, OK get him to re-take it, but a yellow card s*d off.

Can just about understand making him retake it, but the card was totally unnecessary. They don’t really help themselves sometimes, the refs.

Just not happening is it? They’re pretty good at stopping us from playing, it’s just a matter of getting the second goal hopefully however it comes.

This is the worst ball control I've seen from us for a long while. Just not happening.

What the fuck is going on here? We should be hammering these, not worrying about conceding a penalty! Jesus, sort it out Pep...

The dippers must be pissing themselves at this. Just picture that, lads. Picture Klippety pissing himself with his thin squad of jammy bastards, and then imagine the back of the net is his toothy fucking gob and TWAT SOME BALLS INTO IT!

The only upside to this is Burnley are doing the rags. It's scant consolation.

We had to be perfect all 15 games, certainly nothing like that tonight, get a point at least.

Re: newcastle v city
We’re as likely to concede a third as get an equaliser. Absolute guff given we had a 1-0 head start.

Well, here we go... 5 minutes of added time whilst 2-1 down against a relegation threatened side in a stripey shirt with a league title in the balance...

Worst performance since Stuart Pearce was manager. That's that then, No way dippers are losing 3 games.

Re: newcastle v city
Okay, so that went well. The chance to close the gap to a single point, put the pressure on the dippers and we choked, massively. As MCM said earlier, we don't deserve the league if we lost this. And the rags equalised as well. What a shit night...

After beating the Dippers I was really confident we’d catch them. That’s gone now. They’re just not dropping points against teams below the top 6.

True Leo, not over till the points say so. Disappointing but stranger things have happened. We were this far behind with 6 games to go last time the slipped up.

Re: newcastle v city
Danilo’s performance tonight was dreadful, his positioning, his defending, his passing and his shooting were shite! He is nowhere near good enough to be anywhere near this team. The whole team performance tonight was very disappointing to put it mildly, there was no imagination or impetus to break down a very well martialed defence and you have to congratulate Newcastle on that.
The referee was right to cancel out the ‘second’ goal as he clearly held his whistle up to KDB who chose to take no notice.
Teams that defend deep against us in numbers but also break out fast against us and press us tend to get results against us. Leicester, Palace and now Newcastle have all used these tactics to good effect against us and Pep needs to come up with a plan B to deal with it because others will surely be taking copious notes .
As Greavsie said “it’s a funny old game”, Liverpool could have a dip as we did over Christmas. I doubt it , I think we blew it after apparently getting back on track and it’s surely over now barring a collapse by the dippers .

Re: newcastle v city
That was a shadow of the team that were last seasons centurions. Some of them (Danilo and Walker) seemed to think just by being there they had done enough to win the game. Poor passing poor decision making and getting caught in posetion time and time again.
If the Chilwell rumours are true get him in today so that I never have to see Danilo it city shirt again. Also give Walker a few weeks on the bench.
I also thought Ferdy looked as if he was struggling and probably needs a rest

Re: newcastle v city
Did anyone come out of that game deserving of any plaudits? I thought they were poor all over the park. No intensity out desire. 2nd to loose balls. Too many short passes or overhit passes.
It was a turn up and take 3 points kind of performance and they don't always end too well.

Re: newcastle v city
Yes very poor all round. As has already been said if we can't beat Newcastle we don't deserve the title. Can't see the Dippers losing tonight and we have tough games v Arse Chelsea and Everton coming up so I can see us falling further behind. Perhaps we need to concentrate on winning 2 cups and the CL instead.

Well the dippers dropped 2 points against Leicester but I still feel we have blown any realistic chance of the title.

I disagree. It's only five points and there's still plenty of games left. We don't need them to lose two games, drawing three would be enough.

Seems unrelated, but it's not. I mean seriously though how the fu*ck did Bournemouth just beat Chelsea 4-0? After that everything is possible in my book.

Re: newcastle v city
It’s been crazy if we had just won 2 of the games we recently lost against Palace, Leicester or Newcastle, we would be top by one point rather than 5 behind.
