I love chatting with you guys about all things City GSus - but have to admit - some of the stuff turns me right off - soz.

Makes it hard for me as i work at a school and when i read comments in the staff room i am surrounded by young female teachers...... I know it's an almost perfect world but i am embarrased by that word on my screen and i have to avoid certain threads because that word is on the screen in big letters

Well, I work in a mainly female office, and the shit they come out with about men, discussing this that and the other is pretty explicit, I have to put my earphones in and blast out something noisey to blot them out!! If it as men discussing women in the same manner, well, all I can say is we'd be dragged infront of HR at least, and possibly sacked.... Double standards I'm afraid, and actually one of the women I work with is a total c**t !!! who has over a period of 3 years attempted to undermine me at every concievable chance, long story short.. I am being laid off, and she will be taking over my role, as well as hers due to costcutting (yeah thanks Phillip Greene you C**T!) as I earned more than her... she says she can do my job, as well as hers, and I for a fact no she can't...
Anyway... I have 6 weeks to find another job or a regular supply of freelance Graphic Design, so if you hear anything. let me know

Sorry to here about work bewar, we have 7 girls my main office 6 of them are bitchy and one of them is cool, minds her business and does the work ... funnily they all slag her off more but also slag off each other and the rest of employees! women!

Too bad about the job Beware - she sounds like a real beaut. Never hear a four letter jobby at work - and I'm the only female in a group of 12 or so guys. However most of them have a great sense of humour as I do. I manage the odd 4-letter when driving so - its not that I don't swear - its just some words make me cringe.

I like the word, it's a rich word and is meant to be degrading. I don't ever use it for somebody or something that is nice.

However, for harmony amongst our fellow blues, if the consensus is that we should refrain from using it. to allow school teachers to read football forums - WHEN THEY SHOULD BE FUCKING WELL TEACHING!!!......then I will abide by the decision.

I nearly stepped in last week when i noticed there were a few threads with it in their title. Now i i don't want to stop free speach, but a compromise is clearly needed and can we now all withold using such words in thread titles, the last thing i want is to make people stop using the forum if they feel uncomfortable with the content, however, sometimes events and people make the use of such language unavoidable. I only use the C word in genuine anger and I don't really get angry on football forums so I'm going to drop that word.

We'll all make an effort! Use it less often especially when there are females (wensdi) present.

I do try and save my most favourite of words for those that deserve it, Baconface, Moyes, Referees, Ponting and arrogant Indian cricket fans. I will try to refrain from using it too regularly, but appologies in advance for any slip ups, as i am an angry potty mouth when provoked.

Agreed, curbing the expletives is a good call, especially as I have a 2 year old boy who has just started to repeat what I say! especially trying to get from home to the train and then train to nursery, crossing zebra crossings where cars NEVER stop, and pelican crossing outside his nursery where I've nearly been run over 5 times in the last month... I often stand there shouting abuse at car drivers (sorry Wensdi but a large proportion have been women sad to say!) I now take my iphone out and film myself crossing the road, it seems to work most of the time!!!

The C word is an old Anglo Saxon term which was the name for the, erm, lady parts. In that context, it's still a correct word to use. However, during the Roman invasion, a bit over 2000 years ago, we were all forced to learn Latin. Use of the old language was considered to be a bit rude, like you were disrespecting the new order, and you'd get killed for it. So the entire language was rendered taboo.

The main reason it exists (along with words like fuck and cock) are because the Romans, as good clean Catholic sorts, didn't like to discuss anything connected to sex and as such there weren't any short, snappy words available. We, being dirty Anglo Saxon buggers (there's another one!), had no choice but to use the old words, but quietly so as not to get caught.

Hence the reason they are all swearies!

Okay, so let me get this straight... the words we use for lady garden and gentleman sausage and such like are Anglo Saxon. And they were all banned, just not by the Romans, who were actually quite a filthy bunch and would probably have welcomed the naughty words.

Actually, I should take my own advice. I swear a bit too much in real life as well. I put it down to working from home, if someone annoys me I can yell out what I think of them - very cathartic, but if I did it in the office I'd probably get some dirty looks at the very least.

I only ever swore once in front of me mam & dad, & then me dad leathered me (I was about 10 or 11), never ever did it again.

Been married 21 years & never swore in front of the inlaws.
