Madrid looms so who plays
How many do we rest this Sunday or do we go out all guns blazing as a warm up for the starting 11 against Madrid.
We know both Stirling and KdB will want to start for personal reasons. Raheem still has an outside chance of getting a double hat trick and winning the golden boot and the record assists is there for the taking for Kevin.
All that means nothing for Pep as he plans arguably the most important game of the season so far.
So training game rest players?

I would want to go into that game on the back of a big win, regardless of the opposition or relevance.
I won’t even attempt to second guess Pep’s selection.

Thinking more about avoiding injury by resting Sky but know what you mean. Do you think we should try and fit in a friendly between now and then?skyblueoz wrote:shouldnt need to rest anyone the match is a fortnight away

No i think some solid training sessions, high intensity but in a relaxed atmosphere would do more good. Play a friendly and you would be opening up yourself to more possible injuries.

Training sessions will involve the kids that are part of first team training and the '2nd choices'

maybe so dawg but pep will have the nearer 1st 11 at it rather than the kids. Yes the kids will be in and around the training but the high intensity training will be for those involved in the game itself.

Tomorrow, mostly the team that will start v Madrid.
Practice training matches between the starting XI v Madrid and the kids/2nd stringers. Won't be just kids.

Cancelo very good again
Be surprised if he’s not given the nod over Benjamin Kolorov

I must have been watching a different game....he was shite.Paulpowersleftfoot wrote:Cancelo very good again

Kept giving away stupid fouls, shooting was high, wide n handsome and his crossing was terrible....especially his outside of the right foot ones, as he obviously can't cross with his left. He definitely ain't a left back, where's Paul Power when you need him

Re: Madrid looms so who plays
Not only were you not paying attention in the Norwich game (Cancelo far better than Mendy), Mendy us suspended for the return leg against Madrid.

It wasnt mentioned because had it been given then it would have taken St. Tierey's record outright

If he's suspended, then he should definitely have played yesterday then.

Re: Madrid looms so who plays
I too thought Cancelo was good last night. my only problem with him is he is so right footed playing at left back against madrid might be awkward. I thought his defending what little he had to do was ok. Yes he needs to keep his shots under the bar. its amazing when players want that extra pass when we are all screaming shoot yet when they are prepared to shoot we criticize. Mendy was booked in the 1st leg v madrid so is suspended for the 2nd leg. I fully understand pep playing cancelo over mendy as he has only 1 match at left back prior which was watford. The only opportunity before Madrid was this game to get another under his belt as a left back. I would much rather see cancelo at left back than zinky v Madrid.
