Mendy plays down injury....
MANCHESTER CITY star Benjamin Mendy has played down fears over his knee injury, as he's seen out on crutches and protective cast.
The French defender, 23, is reported to be facing a significant stint on the sidelines after the injury sustained against Crystal Palace on Tuesday night.
After the 5-0 drubbing of the Eagles, City boss Pep Guardiola said: "I think it is going to be a major setback.
"We are going to see finally what he has.
"Wait until Thursday but I am pretty sure that it will unfortunately be a little bit longer than we expected or would like."
On Wednesday, Duncan Castles tweeted that Mendy could be set to miss the whole season, with a nine-month rehabilitation period.
He wrote: "Concern with Benjamin Mendy is that Man City's sole specialist left back has ruptured an ACL. If so possible 9 months rehab process."
But Mendy hit back saying: "Your bio says journalist so why you speak like graduated doctor ? no one has test to see if ruptured ACL or not, even I dont know lol"
Mendy was spotted on Wednesday hobbling around on crutches in a knee brace, as he struggled to clamber into a car.
While the extent of the full-back's injury is not yet known, City boss Guardiola has revealed he will not be rushed into any panicked transfer market moves.
On whether Mendy will need to be replaced in January, Guardiola added: "We will see in January.
"We thought next summer about looking for another left-back, another replacement, but we will see what we do.
