Olympic stadium
Who do you think should get it and how much rent should they pay?
If you don't care, or have nothing useful to add, please don't bother contributing.
West Ham are still most likely. £2M a year for a 60,000 seater stadium and it costs £5M a year to maintain/run.
That is a bargain if the Hammers could fill more than 40,000.
I'd like it to go to Leyton Orient as I believe that they are the most local club, but with their low level of support, I can't see that happening.
Maybe Chelsea could lease it whilst they build their new stadium?

Re: Olympic stadium
My next door neighbour is originally from Walthamstow and all her family are Hammers and are all against the move to the Olympic stadium, as it seems most are. Seeing as they will be obliged to keep the running track, it will be possibly the worst stadium to watch football in Europe, so the only reason West Ham will move there, is to line their owners pockets by selling Upton Park for redevelopment.
Barry Hearn will push this all through the courts because it contravenes the rules that a club can move within a certain distance of another, so i'd be surprised if anyone moves in to it on a permanent basis in the forseeable future.
Is this a useful contribution?

BWTAC - always useful contributions from you mate.
It is way too far for Spurs - the only reason I could see them pushing this was to get some brass/planning permission for local development.

Re: Olympic stadium
all the fans are opposed to the deal.
maybe that isn't such a bad shout ONH, but they should pay more of the £5M running costs.
It's like Spurs loaning Adebayor and only paying 40% of his wages

Re: Olympic stadium
Can you really see Orient playing there with their fanbase? 3,500 in a 60,000 seater stadium.
What about the Spuds and Hammers ground sharing?

It is just too far for the spuds fans.
ground sharing could be the way forwards for clubs to go.
the scousers don't want it and neither has got anywhere with their own new ground.

Shaken, Queen's park in Scotland play their games at Hampden Park and their crowds are about 200 so maybe it's not such a problem

Re: Olympic stadium
So how do they afford the running cost of Hampden on match days then john? Surely they must get help from another source, even if they only opened 1 stand. I should have asked my father-in-law when he was alive how they managed it (he was a Queens Pk fan).
I know Barry Hearns been opposing WHU getting it, but surely it's not so Orient can move in.

Re: Olympic stadium
I think in some instances like with Coventry and even Us lot there is a certain number of seats that have to be sold each game, this is to cover the rent the rest is profit.
The big problem is the length what is on offer with the Olympic stadium lease.

Re: Olympic stadium
WHU fans are in uproar over the possibility of moving - and think Gold and Sullivan want to move to increase the profile of the club, just to sell it on at a massive profit.
The argument has always been about the 'bus depot' being in the way to expand Upton Park, but now it's unused, so no excuse according to them, after Gold promised the Olympic Stadium wasn't in their plans.

Re: Olympic stadium
The thing about Queen's Park is that they are the only true amateur club in British league football, they do not even get a fee if a player moves to a professional club, their players survive on sponsorship in the hope they will be picked up by a professional club. How they survive and pay for the right to use that stadium i do not know, my friend who gave me this information sadly died last year
