Now that we are almost safe....
We have 38 points now, 2 points from the safety of the magical 40 points.
I think we can safely look forwards and focus on other targets now.
We are 12 points clear of 5th place, so we should be getting champions league footy next season for starters.
Anything we get in Europe this season from our current position would be considered a bonus.
The draw for the FA cup and the timing of all those matches haven't done us any favours at all.
Maybe just accept getting through in one of them but I can't decide which one!
Are we good enough for the league? - Still not sure. I try to take it one match at a time...

I know this is a tad early Dawg but imo if we can tighten up a little at the back then you have to say the league's there for the taking.
Regarding the cups: I'd see the Euro cups 3rd choice now (unless we somehow get through on Weds), with the FA Cup being the favoured choice of RM. I say this as i can't see him changing the team that he's been playing in the CC Cup too much (despite it being a semi now).
January really could make or break Citys season!

if we'd had an easier looking tie for the FA cup, maybe Bobby would have played a few more regulars against the pool in the semis.
I think he'll look at beating united as the bigger target out of the cup matches.

Re: Now that we are almost safe....
Bolton & Sunderland have been relegated on 40 points & West Ham were relegated with 42 points so I'm not counting my chickens yet !
I know we have a biggish squad & I still have Cityitis but with difficult games in the CL/ Europa to come, 2 SFs against the dippers, FA Cup against the rags & still trying to keep up the gap at the top I just cant help feeling we could do an Arsenal !

Re: Now that we are almost safe....
Hmm... As daft as it might sound, I think it would be an insult to drop out of the CC at this late stage just because we've got a busy month.
Sunderland wasn't a worry for me, but with MON taking over and the way they were dropped by Wolves on Sunday means they'll be desperate to prove to him they can play. That said, the transfer window will only just have opened and they won't be able to bring anyone in, so we should be able to field a weaker team against them and hope for the best.
Strong team for the dippers in the league 2 days later, try and thrash them. Then we've got 3 or 4 days' rest between games, so we can do the same for the rags and the dippers again - all at home.
We should beat Wigan with our kids, leaving the top players plenty of rest for giving the spuds a walloping. And then hopefully we'll have enough of an advantage going into the second leg of the CC, we can park the bus at Anfailed and keep them out.
Piece of cake
I don't see this breaking our season, to be honest. Before we even get to January, we'll have played all 5 of our main contenders, four of them away. By the time we clear January, we'll only have three of them left to play and only Arsenal to travel to - and by April they've usually packed up and gone home.

The worry is that we focus just on the league, letting all the cups go and then lose form.
I don't want to do an Arsenal as you suggested TMG.
