Todays results - tactics change tomorrow?
First of all happy new year fellas, hope you all have a gudden and the new year is a very successful one for our City!
Point now is that given United & Chelsea both lost today, and Spurs drew, would you change the tactics for tomorrows game if you were Mancini?
We can assume that Aguero, Yaya and Silva would all be likely starters tomorrow, as most of us would have thought we would need the win to go back to the top of the table on goal difference. Obviously tomorrow presents the perfect oppertunity to go three points clear at the top, and that little bit closer to Bobby's target of 90 this season, but results today mean that a little pressure has been taken off us.
I'd rest all three mentioned above, in recent games they haven't been in as good form as they were at the start of the season, and personally I think it's due to being overplayed. We could still field a strong side at the Stadium of Light, more than capable of winning the game, but resting a few key players before we go into a busy January.
I also think it's vital De Jong starts getting a few games. He's the obvious walk in replacement for Yaya when he departs to ACON, but has had minimal time on the pitch this season so far, and has looked rusty and off the pace when he has played. He definitely needs the oppertunity to get match fit and find some form before Yaya leaves.
I go for
Hart,
Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy
De Jong, Barry
Johnson, Nasri, Milner
Dzeko

Hart
Zabba, Kompany, KoLo, Clichy
NDJ, GazzBazz
AJ, Nasri, Milner
Edin
subs:
Pants, Lezza, Silva, Mario, Aguero, Yaya, Micah
I'd give Micah a little more rest after his injury and save Lezza for the pool.

I'd play Silva & Aguero with Edin. Agree with NDJ though. We have to win this game so let's make sure of the 3 points eh. Then turn our attentions to the Dippers & Scum afterwards
Hopefully United will be handed another defeat at the Toon before their battering at the Etihad next Sunday
