Don't know the full facts of the case but I am surprised he was found guilty beyond reasonable doubt. Rape cases are notoriously difficult to convict due to the did she/didnt she consent aspect. If she was' too drunk to consent' then surely Blackmore should have been convicted too.

might be the cynic in me that see's girls from these types of trials as normally going after the players with one thing in mind... then off to the police if the papers don't pay enough for it in the first case..

How do they prove that there was no consent or that she was beyond being capable of making any rational decision? Surely it's her word against his? I don't know what the evidence was that swung it in her favour but he's a slimeball for taking advantage of a drunken girl anyway, christ he's a well paid not bad looking footballer, why would he need to even think about luring an innebriated girl to a hotel room to take advantage of her? He must have been well pissed too, none of us make the best decisions when in that state but he'll be paying for that one the rest of his life the fool.
