Barton banned for 12 matches
Joey Barton has been banned for 12 matches for his disgusting yobbish behaviour in the last game of the season
Should have been banned for 12 months if you ask me. Scum is too good a word for him

Re: Barton banned for 12 matches
danny mills talking shite on radio 5 live.
he says that barton deserved an extra couple of games but then admits he deserved an extra 4 games for what he did to aguero, but basically nothing for what he tried to do to vinny!
if these had been 3 incidents from 3 different games, then the outcome would have been the same - 4 game ban for each incident. why should he get off lightly just because they were done in one game?
and it isn't because it is joey barton and he has previous. barton being a thuggish cunt has nothing to do with it.

Re: Barton banned for 12 matches
Exactly dawg, he's got the same ban that anyone else would have (as long as they had already picked up a red during the season).
One of them should press charges, get the cunt back inside.

Re: Barton banned for 12 matches
Heard Patrick Barclay on Talksport saying that the 92 FA clubs should pull together, the richer PL clubs funding a 'test' case for him to be banned for life. If they lose, at least clubs know where they stand legally, if successful, then this sends a message to players who think due to employment law they can get away with anything.
Let's face it - Barton is on £90k per week, and through contractual obligations, he will be paid that (apart from his £75k fine - wtf?) by his club, QPR...yet will not be potentially available until November!!
It's gross misconduct in any other walk of life.....but footballers know they can get away with it and worse still, get paid in full, in Barton's case, £360k per month + bonuses, image rights etc.
I think he is spot on here........it's time that the PL, FA, FIFA, UEFA etc, establishes and more importantly, enforces employment law in the case of over-paid, under-talented footballers and be able to impart a life ban...other sports do it - OK, maybe not the Olympic Committee ( Dwain Chambers)..
Adrian Mutu gets caught 3 times for testing positive for cocaine - it went to court twice - on both occasions, Chelsea won their case for 17m euros compensation..........this MUST prove to be a test case, as he will NEVER ever change....he's a fucking liability to a players future earnings.
Come on QPR and Fernandes......sack the idiot....and the PFA, FA, and the rest of the PL should back him up 100%.

Re: Barton banned for 12 matches
i wonder what the maximum fine qpr can impose (probably 2 weeks, maybe 4 weeks).
if they could fine him for intentionally making himself unavailable, then maybe they don't need to pay him for those 12 matches.
at least it would be a start

i think it depends on the club/contract and the PFA etc.

Re: Barton banned for 12 matches
12 matches is a decent enough ban imo (obviously i'd have liked more) and will equate to the 1st 3 and a bit months. If QPR have an half decent start in that time and are playing well around his return (doubtful i know) then Josephine will struggle to get back in the team, this could therefore go well into the 4th month.
What's the point in fining ANY PL player? £75k is peanuts to these lads and acts as no deterant whatsoever.
ps. Imo QPR won't add any additional fine to what he's got already, unless they intend to put him on the transfer list.

Re: Barton banned for 12 matches
Clarke Carlisle, chairman of the Professional Footballers Association, talking about QPR captain Joey Barton and his 12-match ban for violent conduct, on BBC Radio 5 live: "It is not Joey Barton per se that is the problem it is the actions he does when he loses control. It is something he has been working very hard to get on top of but obviously there is still work to go."
More from Carlisle: "It is when Joey sees the red mist that we need to get a control of because it sets a poor example to the thousands of kids who are watching the game."
Final bit from Carlisle: "Joey has done some fantastic work with regards to his anger management over the years. We have seen him make great strides as a person and the way he does conduct himself 95% of the time. But when you have a reputation it is the times that you lose it comes to the fore. Should Joey want our support we most defintitely will be there for him."
It really does baffle me why this guy still gets excuses made for him. How many chances does one need? I know if I got worked up, kicked one of my workmates, I'd be sacked on the spot. It's a joke!

Priceless!

I liked that one too, but this one nicked it for me:
"It is something he has been working very hard to get on top of but obviously there is still work to go."
No shit, Sherlock!
