Zab has turned down a move to Barca, saying he'd rather stay with us. Apparently, we're offering him a raise. He's proved himself in the role, he never gives less than 100% and he genuinely seems to love being with us.

Getting Alves would be a slap in the face to one of the most decent squad players we've ever had. If we got him, I'd expect Zab to be mightily pissed off about turning down Barca. I'd be pissed off for him.

Plus we've not had a lot of joy with Brazilian players - Robinho, Jo, Elano, Geovanni, Sylvinho... not exactly set our world on fire, any of them.

In all seriousness though, I have to disagree with you on the Elano point.

Fair play, Joe, I'll take back Elano, he was a cracking player for us. I guess my judgement is being clouded by the way he spoke about the club before he left.

Elano's a wanker. Simple as.

Has anyone heard much about Elano since he left? I don't think so, if he was so fantastic how come he has vanished into obscurity? I agree he was good while he was with us until he threw his toys out of the pram but what has he done since?

Elano had issues just like S.Ireland... ruined their careers...
