What happened to the FFP Rules?
How come we are trying to hold off throwing the cash around due to the incoming FFP Rules yet Chelsea and Real Madrid are apparently planning to chuck it about goodstyle and to hell with FFP?

But surely the money that Real Madrid spend, they cannot be running at a profit? They seem to be always shelling out millions even apart from the £80m they paid for the ladyboy. I can't believe that even with a huge fan base that they make more through the club than they spend.

Don't Real Madrid get funding from the government, though? I thought I read that somewhere, the Iberian side fund Real and the Catalans fund Barca.
If it's true, it's no bloody wonder Spain's skint.

True, but the fuss is, apparently, we're not allowed to. Everyone's looking at our spending through a microscope while Madrid are splashing Euros around like they're going out of fashion.

Exactly Leo thats my point, why are we the focus of attention and everybody going on about FFP yet Real Madrid seem to never stop spending huge amounts?

Re: What happened to the FFP Rules?
I suspect it's because Madrid are a globally known team and we're not, hence FIFA won't make as much money from us. Once we're more globally known (and therefore profitable), I expect their interest in our spending will wane.
I expect the rule about owners not being able to spend their own money on the club was deliberately engineered that way. A wealthy owner isn't allowed, but outside benefactors are perfectly acceptable as long as there's no reciprocal benefit of specific kinds. So you can't have a sponsor who is loosely related, but the country you play in can slush funds at you all year, no worries.

Now we are hearing that Barca are giving a new contract to Messi reputed to be worth a quarter of a million quid a week until 2014 and PSG are offering Real Madrid £75M for Ronaldo? I don't hear Platini complaining about these deals.

Not only that but PSG seem to be splashing the cash too, as do a couple of teams in Russia......one of them spent £64m on Hulk and another player didn't they.

Well one things for sure...........IF it ever came to the point whereby we are questioned by UEFA..........FFS, here is great evidence to oppose any penalties served against us.
Fuck it...........The Sheikh, give Bobby £100m to spend in Jan..........they're never going to be able to enforce this bollocks rule anyway.
The Sheikh won't get rattled.....he'll just roll with it.
