Ridiculous decision. Why I was seeing it pop up on Twitter I thought it was a joke. Had a shakey start to the Premier League but looked as if he found his feet. 2 defeats in 12 is not bad at all for a newly promoted side.

Shocked and disgusted after watching his team come back from 2-0 down against Chelski at Stamford Bridge. I know they lost a lot of games but Adkins had seemed to have got it right recently - albeit with a team of Championship players. Bloody terrible. Stupid owners. Such a nice guy too - doing a fantastic job.

Where exactly did the top brass expect Soton to currently be???

Adkins has done superbly well imo, just goes to show, no-one's safe.

Their chairman said "for the club to progress and achieve our long-term targets a change was needed"....wow, what a statement, i bet Nigel Adkins felt brilliant when he heard that.

True but you need to spend that just to make the step up from Championship to the Prem. Plus it's not like it was their money, that is the TV money you get from the promotion.

Maybe he had a clause saying if you spent this much we expect you to be in this position?

Although I think possibly this was done a while ago and it was too late by the time the results started to go their way.

The new man (I've never heard of him) has just had his first press conference via an interpreter. So he's been replaced by someone who hasn't managed in the Premier League before, hasn't even been a manager before and can't speak English. That's what is most baffling about this.

yeh well out of order, I mean why would anyone want to get rid of their manager after having a fantastic season last year
