Transfer window business
Likely to be gone in the window are kolo toure ( out of contract) Dzeko,Maicon,Sinclair,Kolorov,Santa Cruz and Bridge
Wages wise alone I would estimate that would free up £500,000 a week and add on Balotellis wage and transfer fee to the conservative estimate of £35 million recouped on Dzeko,Kolorov and Sinclair that gives us around £55 million in fees and £30 odd million in wages alone without having to dip into sheikh mansours pocket for some chump change.
I think we have to be looking for top draw signings this time around

we only needed one or two last time... a world class striker and a world class winger. I don't think anything has changed much.

Re: Transfer window business
If we get rid of Kolo I think we need another defender. Unless you think Rekik came step up? I'm not so sure.
I still think Sinclair has a lot to offer, but granted maybe he isn't good enough.
I think Tevez might go, but I agree to sell Dzeko and bring in another striker who will fit out system. I rate Dzeko, but we don't play to our strengths and he is lazy at times.

I'd also like to see a midfielder who takes the game by the scruff of the neck. Too often this season have Silva and Nasri just wandered about, and the game has passed them by.
In my opinion, Wilshere would be amazing.

we should be going for wilshere or bale (depending who hasn't got champs league footy). Add them to Cavanni and we should be done for the summer.

Tevez will probably run the 18 months of his contract down and finish his career back home, which is ok to be fair,he doesn't owe us anything

Re: Transfer window business
I'm not keen on a massive overhaul as I don't think it needs to be done, I'd rather we buy one or two of real quality. For me, another cm is the priority depending on the shape next year. I do think we could do with an option of pace on the wing as well. If we do get that, then Dzeko is absolutely worth keeping for me.

Re: Transfer window business
Personally - i'd like to see the following:
We are missing a top class CB, especially if Vinny is out.
We need serious pace from the MF......somebody who can run at players, not only out wide, but through the middle.
Somebody to replace NDJ.....Barry isn't getting any younger or quicker.
I agree with PPLF....i think Tevez will run his contract down and I'm also happy with that...another 18 months of Tevez at full fitness and commitment can only be a good thing if he knows he's going home after it.
2 more top class strikers if we sell Dzeko.
So......in an ideal world I'd like the following:
Mats Hummels at CB.
Wilshere next to Yaya.
Bale on the left of MF.
Cavanni to partner Tevez or Aguero.
Lewandowski.
Team:
............................................Hart.............................................
....Zaba................Vinny......................Hummels................Clichy....
...................Yaya.............................Wilshere............................
.......Silva..............................................................Bale.............
.............................Aguero...................Cavanni..........................

Re: Transfer window business
The lack of pace throughout the team has been a problem all season. I don't think we need to bring in more than 2 or 3 but the players on the periphery who don't contribute like Maicon Sinclair and Kolorov to a large degree need removing from the wage bill

Re: Transfer window business
That's a very nice team Blueboy.
I think with money issues it's Lewandowski or Cavanni, personally I think Lewandowski is the safer bet, half the price and I really do feel the German league is a higher standard than the Italian. A la Balotelli.
I love Nasty, but think it would be good for him if we loaned him out to a Prem club where he would get first team football every week.
I agree on the Wilshere signing. He will be an unbelievable player.

Re: Transfer window business
A couple of weeks back, I put a team forward that should be good enough to win the league.
Hart
Zabba, Kompany, Nasty, Clichy
Silva, Yaya, Barry, Bale
Aguero, Cavanni
I still think two players would be enough but, if things went crazy and we got Cavanni, Wilshere and Bale....

Re: Transfer window business
Nasty to be loaned out......really? I personally think he's proved he's good enough, so he stays at CB partnering Vinny.
Lescott stays too...as cover and we also have Micah as cover too, so no CB is needed imo.
Totally agree about pace being a miss from midfield, so if the Spuds finish 5th...get Bale whatever the cost. I'm personally not too sure about Wilshire and if the Arse do finish 4th he won't come anyway.
The 2 strikers mentioned are the obvious choices, but it's Cavanni for Dzeko for me....as long as Tevez stays.

get that bid in for wilshere as who would want to stay there with no trophies yet again and no chance either?

Re: Transfer window business
The problem being is that IF Vinny is out....a pairing of Lezza and Nasty or Kolo and Nasty doesn't fill me with any confidence whatsoever.
I think we really do need a very good, experienced CB...and sell Kolo/Lescott. Both are on huge money in relations to what Hummels will be on - 50,000 euros pw? Compare that to Kolo and Lescott who both must be on £80-100k pw. Crazy money....and both getting no younger.
I really like Nasty...but he's only 19. He's definitely one for the future, even though he has played OK this season.
Micah? We've all love for who he is....but he's proven time and time again....he's fragile and never gets through a season without a major injury. Just not reliable enough IMO.
Would love us to splash the cash on Bale and Wilshere....and if Dzeko and Tevez stay......promote Guidetti.....i'd be happy with a CB, Bale and Wilshere......sell off the dross in Kolorov, Garcia, Rodwell and Sinclair. Promote the likes of Suarez, Rekik, Evans, Henshall, Bunn, Lopez or Hiwula into the first team sqaud.

Re: Transfer window business
I've got nothing against getting ourselves another quality CB, but our money needs to be able to stretch that far. I'd be happy enough with Kompany and Nasty with Lezza and Micah in reserve.
How about
Hart
Zabba, Kompany, Nasty, Clichy
Yaya, Felliani
Silva, Bale, Aguero
Cavanni
We could get Bale, Cavanni and Fellaini for around £100M.

We certainly aren't the draw that Madrid,Barca or even Bayern Munich are never mind if Utd go after him

Can't see Bale going abroad tbh Paul and i can't see the Rags having the money for him......so, he's ours if the Spuds finish 5th .
Fellaini's a good shout Dawg.
Still don't think we need a CB blue, but you're points are valid mate.

Never say never, mate. They've finished in the top four many seasons on the trot and they've shipped out everyone worth having, every season. Last year they got rid of van Persie, who single-handedly dragged them into the top 4. So if they're willing to sell the only player who could get them there, I'm sure they won't ignore a decent offer for Wilshere.shakencity wrote:I'm personally not too sure about Wilshire and if the Arse do finish 4th he won't come anyway.

Re: Transfer window business
Every team looking to make the top4 (everton, spuds, arse and liverpool) has at least one player that will be tempted by champions league football. most likely, only one of those 3 will get chumps league footy, so some players may look to play elsewhere.
everton have fellaini, spuds have bale, arsenal have wilshere and liverpool have the horse.
I don't see why we couldn't be interested in those players that want champs league footy and their teams fall short.

If we picked up all four of those players, I wouldn't be unhappy. I know Roger Rabbit is a bit of a twat, but we need someone who can hit the back of the net and he can definitely do that. As can the other three, thinking about it...

leo, i can't see all 4 leaving as one of those clubs will be in the champs league.
Just think, we could have got ourselves fellaini and dembele last summer instead of rodwell and garcia.

Re: Transfer window business
After the fuss they made about us taking Lescott, you think they'd be glad to have him back!
If the two players are Nasri and Sinclair then perhaps we can talk, but Clichy should be on the "No feekin' chance" list. Plus don't they have Leighton Baines for a LB already, or is he earmarked for a move to the salford scumbags?

I'd swap Clichy for Baines.
But other than Fellani and Baines who else is there? I suppose Jagielka is decent, but getting on a bit. Jelavic? Not sure.

Saw plenty of Jelavic at Rangers and he was pretty average in a poor SPL. Since he moved to the toffees he started well as most new buys do but he has since faded back into mediocrity, a BIG no from me.

The only player we should get from Everton is Fellaini. If we go for Baines, he'd have to replace Kolarov, not Clichy.

Can't imagine we're looking at Baines anyway, especially when other positions/players are more of a priority.
For the record, i'd have Baines over Clichy and Kolarov all day long .

Me too. Are you crazy Wensdi. Clichy is ok, but Baines is a brilliant left back, and puts the ball in the box! Something will lack.
But yes, swap him for Kolarov and have Clichy has back up.
I'm just going off the article and that said at least two players from Everton? If not Baines, who is the other?

Yeah, let's get 2 wingers and knock it into the box to the 2 smallest forwards in the PL.
I'd still rather pay £35m for the tried and tested Gareth Bale than any of those 2.
Agreed blue, odd story!

Bale? Personally, i'd rather we sold Sinlcair and Nasri to fund a £50m bid for Bale....as that's what it will probably cost to get him.
Nasri must be on £120k and Sinclair £60k.....there's almost £200k pw to tempt Bale.
I'd honestly be happy to keep all 3 strikers and add Bale than paying £60-70m on 2 players.
