Cavani Transfer Gossip
I'm not sure that £54m for Cavani is a good investment unless we buy some quality width. We simply don't play to the strengths of strikers of his type because we have no width, as Dzeko found out after scoring 20+ goals a season at Wolfsburg then struggled at City.
We play too much through the middle with the fullbacks making forward runs but we have no natural wide players to stretch the midfield and take players on and provide quality balls into the strikers.
This is why we get bogged down and fail to break down teams like Stoke and Sunderland who just close us down in midfield and park the bus.
We need a Bale type player who can unlock defences and supply the front men and simply buying a quality striker who scores for fun in a team that plays with natural wide players is not going to work. I might be wrong and he might hit the ground running but I have my doubts.
RVP would never have scored as many goals with us as he has with the rags because they have wide players that tear teams open and provide RVP with crosses and create the room for him to operate.

If we play the 4-3-3 that has been suggested next season, then Cavanni will spearhead the attack, maybe with Aguero on one wing and hopefully we'll get some quality player for the other wing.
Look at utd, for example. They have Young and Giggs for the left and Nani and Valencia for the right. And they have just gone and bought Zaha for next season.
They realise the importance of widening the pitch, getting past your man and putting a decent cross in.
I truly believe if we had invested in what we needed in the summer (CF and winger) we'd be top of the league (ish)

we have tried for the last 2 years to sign a top winger last year it appeared we were going to get Hazzard the year before it was that chilean, Sanchez who opted for Barca it will be interesting to see if we look at one this year.
