Will Gareth Barry.....
be offered a new contract?
I personally think a yrs extension should be offered, he's still a regular player and able replacement when coming on as a sub. A yrs extension will take him upto his 34th birthday, his time at the top could well be up after that.

I reckon that's the best he can hope for and, if offered, he'll take it. Would he take a pay cut for it? I reckon he would as he said he wants to finish his career chasing trophies and City is the best place to do that.

With FFP and he is beginning to start fewer games, maybe a drop in wages, but I have no problems in keeping him.
Certainly more consistant than Rodwell...
Also I've not been overly keen on Razzak when he's been given chances thus far.

At the moment Razzak just seems like a body. He doesn't bring anything to the team but he is still young enough.

Rodwell IS consistent! Consistently injured!Moonchester wrote:Certainly more consistant than Rodwell...
But in all seriousness, we've had Razak to replace Barry and that's not happened quickly enough. We've brought in the likes of Garcia and Rodwell to act as replacements and neither have really stepped up to the plate yet. Unless one of those three suddenly comes good, we're going to need Barry for a bit longer. I don't think he'll get a raise, but I do think he'll get an extension.

I hope Gareth Barry gets an extension to his contract. He's been Mr. Reliable for us - and it was a flukey own goal against the Saints - and let's be honest - nobody really played well in that game.

Barry was excellent on Saturday. Yes I think he should be given another year but not as a regular starter. We need a proper replacement
Having said that the ginger tw@ & the incredible wonderful human being are still playing regularly at the swamp and they are into their 50s

Agree...contract extension for his consistency and attitude towards the game. Plus...he brings a nice balance being left footed.
Nobody has of yet jumped at filling his boots..until then, he should stay and be used as and when formations require it.
