Delight & Relief from the Players
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-city/10057567/Manchester-Citys-players-greet-Roberto-Mancinis-departure-with-delight-and-relief.html
Roberto Mancini’s dismissal as Manchester City manager has been received with “delight” and “relief” by the first-team squad and remaining members of the backroom team as a result of intense antipathy towards the Italian’s dictatorial approach.
Mario Balotelli, who was sold to AC Milan in January, is believed to have been the only significant member of the team to carry any lingering admiration for Mancini, whose repeated public attacks on his players caused fury among the squad.
Mancini’s withering criticism of England goalkeeper Joe Hart following the Champions League defeat against Real Madrid last September proved the most damaging of his outbursts, with that condemnation hardening the ill-feeling towards the former Inter Milan coach.
Captain Vincent Kompany, French midfielder Samir Nasri and defender Micah Richards have also been the victims of Mancini’s outspoken comments.
Earlier this season, senior players privately voiced their annoyance with Mancini’s training methods and obsession with working on minor details of defending, while his reluctance to rotate his squad and rest key players also led to frustration.
And while the players are almost unanimously happy to see the back of Mancini, members of the coaching and medical staff also believe that his departure will lift the air of tension that has descended on the club’s Carrington training ground.
Some members of the medical team have spoken of Mancini’s overbearing nature and interference.
It's all coming out now...can't say I'm surprised...

Re: Delight & Relief from the Players
Words like 'believed', 'seems' and 'he tweeted' don't exactly prove anything, but as you said - this isn't very surprising.
Last season it didn't seem as bad as this with his public outburts regarding players like Hart, Nasri and Kompany.
But we've all been there. Had a boss we don't really like and as much as you try it does bog you down, and ultimately affect your performance. It seems like this is exactly what has happened in this case and has cost us greatly.

Re: Delight & Relief from the Players
Quite. And isn't it funny how they all come out after the deed has been done? Example, why wasn't the old kit man, who hasn't worked for City for a year, suddenly mentions it on Twitter? If that were the case, why not mention it once he'd collected his contract at Sunderland? I doubt anyone there would given much of a crap.Jordan wrote:Words like 'believed', 'seems' and 'he tweeted' don't exactly prove anything...
I don't know... It's like they're mopping up conjecture and hearsay and reporting it as news. Undoubtedly some are true, but then I'm sure there's a few bandwagon jumpers who just feel like joining in, badmouthing the latest pariah, just to get their fifteen minutes. And a part of me wonders if some of this sudden outpouring of ill-will is an arse-covering exercise to justify the decision.
Anyway, it's done now, time to move on...

Re: Delight & Relief from the Players
It was blatantly obvious on Saturday that there was something wrong somewhere along the way. There was not a semblance of desire or effort in that game, well not from City.We put out half a team against Reading and the result does not describe how City played, they were totally different.

Thought YaYa was the worst player on the pitch last night - he was slow and always a beat behind everyone else.

Yaya hasn't played well too often this season
Milner was very good last night, best I've seen him play in a long time
For a newish ground the parking is a bloody nightmare, nearly missed the kick off and I was there early

Re: Delight & Relief from the Players
How was the general feeling last night PPLF? Did you get the feeling people were unhappy with the decision? Or just singing his name for what he has brought us etc?

Re: Delight & Relief from the Players
There will always be some that are unhappy and some that aren't Jordan - don't you think? If we start to play like we did last season - then I guess those who were happy with Mancini - will probably be won over.

Re: Delight & Relief from the Players
The vast majority of the core away support are generally disgruntled about it
But the close season and some new faces will dampen their annoyance I think
I wouldn't mind so much if these same people hadnt watched the utter shite I've seen at places like Southampton and Everton where in must win games the commitment and desire was nowhere to be seen, just like at Wembley
I'll be glad when the seasons over
