We've seen pretty much everyone have some game time except Aguero.

Who'd you go with for the opening match against Newcastle?

Hart
Richards, Kompany, Lezza, Clichy
Yaya, Fernandinho
Milner, Silva, Jovetic
Dzeko

Hart
Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Clichy
Navas, Yaya, Fernandinho, Silva
Dzeko, Jovetic

may change over the next few weeks if Aguero is back fit, listed as 4-4-2 but more flexible

I toyed with the idea of Navas, but didn't want 3 new signings starting the game. You know what you'll get with Jimmy and that should be enough to beat the Magpies.

I'm with Blueboy.

Bring Navas on if we are struggling. Great finish by Negredo last night for his first goal.

I'm happy with Blueboy's team as well.  As long as Negredo and Dzeko keep hitting goals like the ones we've seen in pre-season then we'll have more than enough to keep the barcodes at bay.  Although I wouldn't mind seeing Navas play at some point, he's looking pretty handy.

I think with the wealth of attacking players at his disposal, MP will be able to swap it about at will.

It's a great problem for him to have though, as with Aguero, Navas and Jovetic available, all 3 could easily play in place of 3 others, and we don't look any less effective.

I can't see him starting the season with Dzeko and Negredo unless Aguero is still injured and he thinks Jovetic needs a gentle introduction to the premier league.

I think Negredo looks like he can handle himself.

I want him to start with those.  While we're still a bit wobbly defensively, I'd prefer to have us simply outscore the opponent than sit back and try to keep them out.

I agree with Leo.I hope that MP does instill some more steel into the team.We have the ability to turn over anybody,as we showed against Milan, but we still have the habit of sitting back,we could have had a real hatful on Wednesday against supposedly one of the elite of Europe. Also against Munich I thought we started too slowly, but maybe I am asking too much,or,wanting too much. But I really am looking forward to the new season to see the reaction of the other clubs against us.So far the only threat is Chelsea, they really do have a good squad:)

I don't think you're asking too much, Bob.  We've spent a veritable crapload of cash on players over the last few years and I don't think it's unreasonable for us to expect a decent, world beating performance from time to time.  Especially since the boss has gone on record as saying we've got the strongest forward line in Europe (or maybe he only said the PL, but the point remains).

I know we keep getting told to manage our expectations, that we have to let the team gel and what-not, but there's only so long we can go on prevaricating before we have to face the inexorable truth:  We've spent a lot of money and it is foolish to think we can sit back and accept sub-par performances as a return.

And I'm not worried about Chelsea.  They had the strongest side on paper last season, but they finished lower than us and we beat them on five out of six separate occasions, with the only game we didn't win being a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge.  And that was despite us playing like we didn't really give a monkeys.
