Game called off
After all the waiting, game is called off.
Maybe that's good on one hand as I reckon we'll have players rested just a little bit more so no excuses (except for the injured players) for Saturday against Chelsea.
It could be a bad thing as well with fixture pile up (if we get past Barca and Chelsea).
I wanted to watch the Arsenal match so it's not all bad.
Feel sorry for the guys (especially Sunderland Fans) who went to the ground.
Might see Stoke and Everton called off as well.

Re: Game called off
When will we know about Saturday's game?
I'm driving over from Paris for the match and would be mightily pissed off if the game was postponed late on.

There's another storm front heading in on Friday but not sure about Saturday. I'm sure moanarhino will appeal to the FA to have us punished for postponing the game.

Re: Game called off
Wow left just south Birmingham at 4:10pm and just back to windy Horwich now. Interesting trying to get over the ship canal with all the bridges shut. Ended up coming into town and getting the 602. Trees down all the way up, tomtom took me down all sorts of lanes with debris.
Weather is proper fooked.

Re: Game called off
I was in town earlier and it was ridiculous. The drive in was awful, trees and boards all over the roads. Not good, fortunately it had calmed down for my drive back at 9ish.

Re: Game called off
The Arsenal game was total wank. Utd were clueless and Arse weren't much better.

Re: Game called off
Tell me about it, I listened on the radio so it sounded even worse. The Arse are about to have their usual February capitulation and The Rags are seriously just about a mid table team.

Re: Game called off
What do you mean, about to? They've scored 5 points in their last four games, I'd say they were on their full on collapse already. I'd have also said March is when they normally lose the plot, but it's happening anyway.blisteringblue wrote:Tell me about it, I listened on the radio so it sounded even worse. It's only because Newcastle and Southampton don't seem to be able to close the gap. Swansea are closer to the bottom than they are to Newcastle. Basically, the rags are fluking their way into the Europa League, just like they're going to fluke a quarter final place in the CL.Topdawg wrote:Watching the game, I can't believe Utd are 7th.

Re: Game called off
Thank fuck we lost all electricity at 18:30 yesterday! Just got it back on now.....drove into the village to try and watch it in the pub....and he said "called off mate".....oh well, back home to a dark and freezing house...kept nipping out to my car to listen to the United and Liverpool games.
Bloody Pool look like they could become a serious contender.
3 more days rest for our players.

Nah, they draw too many, WBA the other week and should have drawn last night. Not too worried about them.
If we can win at the Arse and Utd and draw at Anfield I would take that now and it should see us ahead of the pack.

Re: Game called off
Must be a long time ago. I'm guessing it'll be back in the seventies and even then, the players would go out in all weathers - like the ballet on ice - so it would have to have been pretty extreme, like a few feet of snow or needing water wings. Decent groundskeepers, proper drainage, under pitch heating and specialised turf has pretty much seen off the days of pitches that are turned into pools, mud baths, sandpits or concrete.shakencity wrote:Out of interest, i wonder when City last had a home game called off because of bad weather?
