Re: Remaning Fixtures - Head to Head
If we don't attack with the same intensity as we start with, throughout the game, we will not win the league.....it's that simple. The midfield play was again laborious once we went in front, especially from Yaya and Nasri.....and if MP doesn't realize that this is costing us, then i'm sorry, he isn't doing his job and serious questions in his direction need to be asked by the top brass.
We started off at both OT and Arsenal brilliantly, got the 1st goal, then for some unknown reason decided to sit and preserve that lead we had......keep attacking you fucking fuck-wit. The only reason we didn't get caught out and reeled in at OT (like we did at Arsenal) was because they were crap.
Liverpool don't seem to be doing that at the minute and they're getting their rewards.....and rightly so.
That said, if we continue with our quick and slick passing, we'll go on and win games comfortably and ultimately go on to win the league. However, play in the same mould as we have done in the last couple of games, imo the title's over.

Agree, that's what was frustrating about Saturday.
As you say, we started really well for 30 mins, then seemed to sit deeper and deeper and the passing went more sideways.
Nasri had a poor game and Yaya was ineffective...we need these 2 to be on top of their game, every game, for 8 more matches.
Let's just hope Sergio has a good week training and is back for Soton...as they are hitting a bit of form...glad it's at home!

Nasri and Yaya seem to think the games won at 1-0 and as you say start passing sidewards....but why are they allowed to play that way??
Why isn't Vince telling Yaya to push further up and leave Fernandinho to the defensive duties....and getting us quicken things up??
As you say, Serge would certainly be a welcome boost up top, as MP obviously doesn't have any faith in Negredo and Jovetic at the minute. Sergio with Silva tucked in behind him imo would certainly be more effective than the Dzeko/Silva combination currently deployed.

If that pans out then I'm sure we'll all be very happy. However, I think Liverpool will beat Chelsea, so we need to either up our goal difference or make sure we beat Everton. I can see Liverpool increasing their GD quite a bit in the last few games.

Re: Remaning Fixtures - Head to Head
I thought that Liverpool's momentum would carry them through a couple of months back. Suarez has been key to them but their confidence is so high now, I reckon they can win games without him. We've put in too many half hearted lethargic performances this season (Norwich away springs to mind).

Re: Remaning Fixtures - Head to Head
i still think personally the teams the top 4 face that are battling relegation are going to be just as decisive as the games against the top 4. Liverpool still have to face Norwich & Palace Chelsea Cardiff & Swansea. We have WBA Palace & Sunderland. Fortunately 2 of ours are at home palace could well be the tricky one for both ourselves & Liverpool. My other concern is the day we play Liverpool is the Hillsborough memorial day so all games Kick off at 3.07pm. With it personally affecting Liverpool I feel that is going to make our job much harder as they will be right up for it.

I think the last time we were involved in a similar type of memorial was the Munich Remembrance at OT...and we won that 2-1.
It may even affect the Liverpool born players - rile them up and they get emotional.

Re: Remaning Fixtures - Head to Head
Correct, Bluey. I recall that was when Sven was in charge and we clocked up our first win at the swamp since, ooh, Mike Doyle was captain, I think.
The remembrance thing will almost certainly temper the atmosphere, especially since there's now a new enquiry being launched, which bring everything back to the fore again.

I'm not worried until it is no longer in our hands. Anyway if we lose out to the dippers it may just be worth it for them to get another title just to wind the rags up, they have bleated on about having the most titles for long enough.

IF....we were to lose out...and I don't think we will, I'd rather Liverpool win it than Chelsea...that's for sure.
I actually like watching them play...they are so quick at getting the ball forward to either Sturridge, Suarez or Sterling, they look like they can score with every attack, however, Flannegan is a red card waiting to happen every time he makes a tackle.

Re: Remaning Fixtures - Head to Head
I'd want that to happen because of all those rag tossers who would actually rather Chelsea won it than either us or Liverpool. Us, I can understand, but Liverpool? The only reason they hate the Scousers in the first place is because Fergie went on record about knocking them off their perch and then made it his mission to make them the focus of his own personal assault. Before that, they only disliked them on a regional basis, so really no different than the rest of us. So yeah, if Liverpool take the title, I'll be happy enough with that.blisteringblue wrote:I'm not worried until it is no longer in our hands. Re: Remaning Fixtures - Head to Head
I only hope it does not damage us "so close yet so far" for next season, Or it could have the opposite effect and galvanize us into a strong unit. We shall see. I just hope we can get through this season as worthy champions.

Re: Remaning Fixtures - Head to Head
After last season, we should be galvanized into a strong unit.
Everyone should be getting stronger next season. Chelsea will buy a striker or two, we'll hopefully buy a defender or two, Arsenal should buy a striker and so on. We have a decent squad that will get stronger, but we won't be alone.
That's why we want to be winning it this year.
