City v Soton - Match Thread
Massive game today and no doubt a very difficult one with Soton flying at the moment.
Will he stick with the same team for the 3rd game in a row? Wonder when was the last time that happened?
I've got a sneaky feeling he may go 2 up top today and bring back Kolorov.

Hope he doesn't go 2 up top, especially with those two who are terrible together
With saints pressing game we will need the extra man in midfield and I would go with the 11 that started at the emirates

Aguero put through his paces prior to the match!
I'm sure he won't be playing, but why bother? For the fans??

I'd would have played Jimmy for Navas in this one. Shaw will have something to prove with us being linked and Navas won't be in the game.

I think with Navas, LB's are always fearful of his pace and never want to get caught out with a ball being played for him to run on to...so maybe he will try and keep Shaw guessing and not let him get too far forward, plus, he does do his defensive duties as well.
Shaw is pretty quick as well, possibly quicker than Milner - but nowhere near as quick as Navas.

I don't understand how they don't get it. First time we go at them, we get a goal. Second time, boom, another one. So what was with the forty minutes of tippy tappy bollocks?

Re: City v Soton - Match Thread
Our MF has been really poor without the ball. Fernandinho been pretty much non-existent in MF...not sure, but he looks well off the pace. Maybe Milner on for him.
Dzeko...he should score 35 goals a season the amount of chances he has...but he does still keep plugging away and always seems to get on the score sheet...imagine if he was any good at finishing??
Apart from that move for the 2nd goal (which was offside, but a brilliant move) and a great cross for the 3rd...Kolorov has pretty much given the ball away every time he's had it.
Come on...we know we can play so much better, especially breaking up play.
Southampton were very good in that 1st half and by far the better team....a massive shame for Rodrigez...looks like his WC chances are over. Shame.

Southampton are playing the way we should be playing. If we had their commitment, effort and pressing game, we'd have won the league by now.

hmm..would rather have had Milner...Fernandinho just didn't look like his normal self...he looked well off the pace.

What's happened to the beast! Think it will only take a goal! No more today though, 3-1 is my prediction score ;-)

Yaya you are better than that. No complaints if MP takes him off

We just can't keep getting away with performances like that. Liverpool will stuff us if we turn up like this. At least Aguero should be back for that game.

Agree...awful dive on more than one occasion. Hope MP has a word.
Much better 2nd half...and yes, The Beast just needs a goal as he looks like he hasn't played for ages...oh yeah, he hasn't!
I know...if that was Dzeko I'd be going mad......but the difference is that Dzeko has started our last 5-6 games....Negredo needs a prolonged run, but won't get it as Aguero will play on his own instead of Dzeko next week.
Still - 3 points, much better 2nd half...could've been 6-3 that game.
Roll on the Grand National!

I put 4-1 down on my sky super 6! Only 5 more correct scores for 250k! I'm not holding out much hope, lol
Take the 3 points and get set for dippers! Please don't set up for a draw MP we have to take it to them.

I wasn't that impressed with Navas going forwards. He still can't get past his man. I'm thinking of putting a short video together for him to teach him a new trick or two.

Re: City v Soton - Match Thread
Sort of agree with you dawg, he crosses well but never beats his man. Good ball for the 4th though. He does a lot going back too. I just prefer Jimmy in that position. I fear he will leave us in the summer without more games.

Re: City v Soton - Match Thread
I disagree guys. It's not always about beating a man...I know what you mean...but sometimes, his pace is so dangerous he drags so many players towards him.
Still, I can definitely see Milner playing next week.

Re: City v Soton - Match Thread
He's dragged players across but how does that help if his crosses can't beat the first man? His pace saves us when he comes back to help out, but isn't his main job to create?
